- • Senior Applied AI Engineer at Lawhive Inc. plays a pivotal role in transforming cutting-edge AI research into scalable, production-ready legal technology solutions that power the company’s mission to democratize access to law through its AI-native platform.
- • This role is critical to Lawhive’s growth trajectory following its $60M Series B funding and $685M valuation, enabling the scaling of AI-driven legal services across international markets while maintaining compliance, reliability, and performance in regulated environments.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include developing production-ready APIs and services that expose AI functionality to internal and external applications, ensuring seamless integration of AI capabilities into the platform’s core workflows.
- • The engineer will improve reliability and monitoring for AI-driven applications in production by implementing robust observability, logging, alerting, and debugging practices to maintain system health and performance under real-world legal workloads.
- • Scaling AI systems to handle complex legal use cases such as legal document analysis, case outcome prediction, and automated legal advice requires optimizing infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency processing while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- • Collaboration with AI researchers and software engineers is essential to bridge the gap between experimental models and production deployment, facilitating smooth integration of new models, pipelines, and research outputs into evolving AI workflows.
- • The role involves working with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, AWS Step Functions) and asynchronous workflows to efficiently process large-scale AI workloads, enabling resilient and scalable data processing for legal AI applications.
- • Ensuring security and compliance in AI-driven legal services is paramount, requiring adherence to regulatory standards (including those applicable to regulated law firms) and implementation of best practices for data privacy, model governance, and auditability.
- • The AI Engineering & Infrastructure team operates at the forefront of Lawhive Labs, a global hub combining top engineering, design, AI, and legal talent to innovate the future of law, offering exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration and high-impact innovation.
- • In this role, the engineer will deepen expertise in MLOps, distributed systems, and AI system reliability while contributing to a mission-driven product that directly impacts access to justice, offering both technical growth and meaningful societal impact.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong Python experience in building scalable backend systems
- • Familiarity with API design & distributed systems architecture
- • Experience working with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka, Pub/Sub, AWS Step Functions, etc.)
- • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP etc)
- • Understanding of best practices in observability, monitoring, and debugging
