• • About the Role: Plooto currently serves over 14,000 businesses across North America with our robust payments and cash flow management platform, and this is just the beginning of our journey. We are in the process of rebuilding and scaling the next generation of our cutting-edge fintech platform. To achieve this, we are searching for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer who is eager to take on significant ownership, contribute to a system operating at real scale, and make a tangible impact. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply passionate about system design, scalability, and crafting clean, well-tested code that ensures long-term maintainability and robustness.
• • Not a Feature Factory: This is not a role focused on simply churning out features. Instead, you will be instrumental in designing and constructing high-throughput, cloud-native systems responsible for processing financial transactions, orchestrating complex workflows, and delivering critical real-time financial insights. You will play a pivotal role in shaping architectural decisions, influencing engineering best practices, and elevating the overall technical standard of our engineering team.

• • Key Responsibilities:
• • Own the end-to-end design, development, and successful delivery of scalable backend services, primarily utilizing .NET and Azure cloud technologies.
• • Architect, evolve, and maintain event-driven, distributed systems designed to handle high volumes of critical financial transactions with utmost reliability.
• • Build robust API-first services characterized by strong, well-defined contracts, exceptional reliability, and comprehensive observability to ensure seamless integration and monitoring.
• • Lead and drive complex technical initiatives from the initial design phase through to successful production deployment and ongoing operation.
• • Make pragmatic and strategic architectural decisions that effectively balance the need for rapid development with long-term scalability and maintainability goals.
• • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Design teams to translate ambiguous business problems into clear, elegant, and technically sound solutions.
• • Proactively identify and implement improvements to system performance, reliability, and overall resilience as the platform continues to scale.
• • Elevate the engineering standard across the team through rigorous and thoughtful code reviews, engaging design discussions, and active mentorship of fellow engineers.
• • Inspire and share your engineering expertise and passion across the entire engineering organization, contributing to our regular Lunch & Learn sessions.
• • Actively contribute to and foster a culture of experimentation, strong ownership, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
• • Work effectively cross-functionally throughout Plooto, translating the company's strategic objectives into actionable and impactful engineering deliverables.
