- • Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly concurrent backend services in Go to power autonomous maritime platforms.
- • Architect distributed systems that support high throughput, real-time operations, and mission-critical reliability in defense and commercial maritime environments.
- • Define service boundaries, APIs, and data models across backend systems to ensure clean integration with frontend, platform, autonomy, and embedded teams.
- • Drive technical ownership of backend projects from concept through production, including roadmap planning and delivery execution in partnership with product and engineering leadership.
- • Set and enforce engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and guide architectural decisions to ensure quality, security, and maintainability.
- • Optimize backend systems for performance, scalability, and resilience by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in concurrency-heavy workloads and distributed architectures.
- • Ensure systems meet high standards for uptime, observability, and production readiness through improved monitoring, logging, and operational practices.
- • Enforce secure development practices across all backend systems, including secure coding, testing, documentation, and design reviews.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with embedded, autonomy, platform, and frontend teams to integrate cloud-based services with edge devices and hardware systems.
- • Translate product requirements into reliable, scalable backend systems that operate reliably in real-world, high-stakes environments.
- • Contribute to system-level architecture spanning from edge devices to cloud infrastructure, ensuring end-to-end system coherence and performance.
- • Foster a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement within the backend engineering team.
- • Build backend services that are secure, production-ready, and designed for ease of use by other engineering teams.
- • Maintain high standards for code quality, testing coverage, and documentation to support long-term system maintainability.
- • Participate in design reviews and help improve backend engineering practices across the organization.
- • Deliver consistent, reliable backend systems that support real-world deployments of autonomous surface vessels.
- • Establish clear architectural standards and well-defined service boundaries that enable scalable growth and team alignment.
- • Improve system performance, reliability, observability, and maintainability over time through iterative optimization and operational excellence.
- • Ensure backend services are robust enough to operate in mission-critical maritime environments with zero tolerance for failure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in backend engineering, distributed systems engineering, or related software engineering roles
- • Strong expertise in Go and building highly concurrent systems
- • Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
- • Strong API design and system architecture skills
- • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
- • Deep understanding of performance optimization, data structures, networking, and system design
