- • As a Senior Brand Designer at Marqeta, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing compelling, performance-driven visual narratives. This role is central to the Content and Creative team, focusing on the ideation, exploration, and meticulous implementation of visuals across a diverse range of mediums and channels. Your primary objective will be to continuously elevate our marketing campaigns and strengthen the overall Marqeta brand identity. Beyond a strong aesthetic sensibility, you are expected to be an ambitious, detail-oriented designer who thrives on process, embraces constructive feedback and iteration, and possesses a robust understanding of fundamental design principles. A key aspect of this role involves anchoring your design work in solving specific business challenges, demonstrating a clear understanding of how design contributes to strategic objectives and recognizing the profound value of a well-maintained and utilized design system.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of design activities. You will be tasked with creating sophisticated visual systems that effectively communicate clear stories, ensuring they leave a lasting and positive impression on our target audiences and reinforce Marqeta’s distinct visual brand. A significant part of your role will involve producing end-to-end creative assets for marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency and impact across various digital and physical channels, as well as different brand surfaces. You will also be responsible for building wireframes and developing high-fidelity visuals for responsive web experiences, with a strategic focus on driving user conversion. Collaboration will be a constant, as you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define the strategic approach for design initiatives and subsequently develop effective, compelling presentations that articulate design concepts and outcomes. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in scaling our design impact by actively implementing and refining design systems, leveraging automation tools where applicable, creating effective and reusable templates, and partnering with our data and insights teams to rigorously test and optimize design performance. You will also be expected to evolve and adapt our design processes to foster an increasingly efficient and productive workflow, ensuring that the team operates at its peak performance.

- • The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent professional experience, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of dedicated experience in brand design, whether gained within an agency setting or in-house. A strong, diverse portfolio showcasing excellent design execution across a variety of channels and surfaces, alongside a clear demonstration of your design process, is essential. Proficiency in Figma, including its collaborative features, brand libraries, variables, and components, is a must, as is a strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite, with a preference for skills in 3D and motion graphics. Familiarity with Google Docs for collaborative document creation is also required. Your understanding of core design principles—layout, hierarchy, balance, typography, and color theory—must be exceptional, complemented by an almost obsessive, pixel-perfect attention to detail, where even minor imperfections in alignment are readily apparent. You should be adept at articulating your design process and iterations through your portfolio, demonstrating a thoughtful approach to problem-solving. A generous and open approach to collaboration is vital, enabling you to both give and receive feedback freely and constructively in design critiques. Adaptability and flexibility are key, allowing you to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Effective calendar and workflow management skills are necessary to maximize productivity.
