Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • The Senior Capacity Planner will own and lead medium- to long-term capacity planning and modelling within the Performance Management function of Capita’s Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS), directly supporting workforce forecasting and operational strategy for government service delivery. This role is critical in ensuring that staffing levels align with demand for health assessments conducted on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Department for Communities (DfC), enabling timely and accurate benefit decisions for citizens.
- • Day to day, the role involves owning and leading capacity models with clear inputs, outputs, and decision points; leading scenario planning to assess business, policy, and demand changes and recommending options and trade-offs; owning modelling inputs to Impact Assessments with auditable assumptions and clear narratives; presenting insights as actionable recommendations, risks, and mitigations to senior and client stakeholders; leading cross-functional collaboration with MI, Business Modelling, Resourcing, and Operations teams to align demand and supply data; owning recruitment requirement forecasts by communicating hiring triggers, constraints, and lead times; improving capacity planning capability through automation, efficiency, and better decision support; maintaining comprehensive modelling documentation for transparency and auditability; staying current with forecasting best practices and advising stakeholders on improvements; setting and upholding modelling standards and governance including quality checks and stakeholder sign-off; leading client engagement on capacity outlook, scenarios, risks, and actions in governance forums; owning the end-to-end capacity planning cycle to deliver a single source of truth; and managing senior stakeholders by escalating risks early and driving resolution.
- • The HAAS team operates as a vital public service partner, delivering health assessments that inform eligibility for disability and sickness benefits across the UK, combining public sector mission with private sector efficiency and innovation within Capita’s broader portfolio.
- • In this role, the individual will develop deep expertise in strategic workforce forecasting within a high-stakes government services context, gain influence over operational and financial planning decisions, and build leadership credibility by advising senior stakeholders on capacity-related risks and opportunities — positioning them for advancement into broader operational or analytics leadership roles within Capita or the public sector outsourcing market.
🎯 Requirements

- • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and engage directly with clients, influencing decisions with clear recommendations.
- • Strong background in data management, capacity modelling, and medium- to long-term forecasting, with accountability for quality, governance, and delivery.
- • Experience working in or with government services or public sector organisations.
- • Senior lead mindset: sets direction, coaches others, and aligns teams to deliver outcomes.
- • Strong communication skills, confident presenting complex insights to senior and client audiences.
