📋 Description

• As a Senior Cloud Engineer at Premier Inc., you will design, implement, secure, and manage private and public cloud infrastructure, ensuring cloud-native workloads are deployed according to IT best practices for security, governance, identity and access management, and monitoring. You will play a critical role in migrating workloads to cloud-native platforms, integrating cloud compute environments with traditional data center services, and providing strategic leadership for cloud roadmap decisions based on market awareness of platform alternatives and differentiators.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include optimizing workload placement and cost efficiency across platforms, migrating workloads based on revenue, criticality, performance, and cost profiles; providing monthly resource consumption reporting to TechOps and business teams; establishing self-service and manual provisioning interfaces; identifying over-provisioned resources and implementing automated reclamation; ensuring workload consumption is approved by stakeholders or constrained by compute pool limits; and supporting "show back" of all cloud and container platform costs.
• You will partner with development teams to support CI/CD velocity, maintain proficiency in development team tools and processes, ensure software delivery pipelines integrate well with cloud and container platforms, participate in agile iteration activities including stand-ups and sprint tasks, identify traditional infrastructure applications suitable for cloud migration, and lead technical deployment for new application initiatives from business requirements through delivery of necessary technical components.
• Administration and support duties involve providing hands-on support for private/public cloud and container-based platforms, including 24/7 on-call rotational incident management and service restoration; ensuring platform availability through monitoring and alerting; provisioning workloads on appropriate compute platforms; assisting development teams with self-service and API challenges; reviewing incident trends to proactively register problems; establishing standards, documenting change procedures, coordinating planned maintenance; training others in issue handling and automation via shell scripts and scheduling tools; maintaining and updating IT disaster recovery plans; performing recovery testing; ensuring application and data recoverability per backup retention policies; developing baseline performance and utilization trends for capacity planning; and creating as-built documentation, network drawings, configurations, and operating procedures.
• In cloud security, you will continuously improve security posture of cloud and container environments, partner with security teams to document and explore new vulnerability assessment methods, review build templates for patch levels and services enabled, ensure workload network isolation via approved segmentation methods, provide Network and Security teams with visibility into cloud traffic and net flow data, drive improvements in patch and vulnerability management, implement role-based access privileges with least-privilege principles, and validate access requests with appropriate managers.
• Relationship management includes working with service providers to maintain hardware, software, and service implementations for maximum value and availability, identifying and escalating technology stack risks and gaps into vendor governance, and documenting, developing, and maintaining effective working relations with users, vendors, and other department personnel.

🎯 Requirements

• 4 or more years of applicable experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure, or related technical roles
• High School Diploma or GED (required); Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university preferred
• Proficiency in compute stacks, scripting, automation, orchestration, configuration management, cloud networking, security, DevOps, governance, financial analysis, and data analytics/ETL tools on cloud
