Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Valon Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in scaling and securing the foundational systems that power an AI-native operating system for regulated finance, directly enabling the company’s mission to transform outdated industries like mortgage servicing through reliable, high-performance infrastructure.
  • • You will design, build, and operate core cloud infrastructure across compute, storage, databases, and networking layers, ensuring Valon’s platform remains scalable, secure, and resilient as it scales to support over 100 million background jobs per day and prepares for 10x growth in the next two years.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating and operationalizing new data stores such as Vitess, Clickhouse, and Redis; scaling batch processing control planes; building production-equivalent sandbox environments for customer onboarding and demos; and supporting enterprise-grade deployment models that meet stringent security and data residency requirements.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product engineering, platform, and operations teams to define infrastructure solutions that unlock innovation, improve developer experience, and enable rapid product iteration while maintaining rigorous reliability and observability standards.
  • • Participation in on-call rotations and incident response will be key, where you’ll drive improvements in system monitoring, alerting, and post-incident analysis to enhance overall platform resilience.
  • • You will contribute to long-term architectural decisions and technical strategy for the platform, advocating for pragmatic, well-reasoned trade-offs that balance innovation with stability and operational excellence.
  • • Through mentorship in code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing, you’ll help elevate the technical bar across the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high agency.
  • • Joining a tight-knit, high-impact engineering team composed of alumni from Stripe, Jane Street, Meta, and Google, you’ll work in a collaborative, remote-first environment with hubs in New York City and San Francisco, where ownership, initiative, and technical depth are deeply valued.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to solve complex infrastructure challenges at the intersection of scale, security, and regulated industries, allowing you to grow your expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, and platform engineering while making a tangible impact on a platform poised to reshape financial infrastructure.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3–5 years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or cloud systems.
  • • Hands-on experience managing and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure at meaningful scale.
  • • Strong working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar).
  • • Experience with distributed systems concepts including networking, storage, load balancing, and database operations.
  • • Solid engineering fundamentals with the ability to write clean, well-tested code and contribute to services and tooling.
  • • A product mindset, considering how infrastructure decisions impact downstream teams and products.
  • • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.
  • • Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments is a plus; familiarity with regulated industries (fintech, healthcare, etc.) is a bonus but not required.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary with meaningful equity stake and 401k plan.
  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • • Commuter benefits via pre-tax deductions for public transportation, rideshare, and parking.
  • • Company-wide orientation, learning & development opportunities, and regular 360-degree feedback review cycles.
  • • Quarterly budgets for team and company outings to foster connection and collaboration.
  • • Generous flexible paid time off, sick days, and 11 company holidays.
  • • 12 weeks of fully paid baby bonding time for both birthing and non-birthing parents.
