- • As a Senior Credit Risk Data Scientist at Wayflyer Limited, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our global funding operations by developing and deploying sophisticated credit risk models. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between advanced statistical methodologies and tangible financial outcomes, directly impacting our portfolio performance and driving consistent revenue growth.
- • You will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of credit risk models, embracing a philosophy where Machine Learning is treated as a core branch of software engineering. This ensures that all developed models are production-grade, characterized by speed, reproducibility, and robustness, thereby underpinning our underwriting systems.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve designing and implementing advanced modeling frameworks. This includes developing innovative methodologies for decisioning, pricing, and fraud detection, all aimed at measurably improving the company's Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.
- • You will be responsible for crafting data-driven credit policies and lending strategies. These strategies will be designed to safely expand our addressable market, enhance customer conversion rates, and optimize both growth and profitability for Wayflyer.
- • A critical function of this position is to act as a guardian of scientific integrity. You will rigorously ensure that all model improvements are statistically significant, meticulously free from data leakage, and devoid of bias, maintaining the highest standards of analytical rigor.
- • You will translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable "Business Trade-offs" for leadership. This involves mapping model performance metrics, such as ROC AUC, directly to key revenue and loss metrics, enabling informed strategic decisions.
- • As a senior member of the team, you will set the standard for code quality through high-value code reviews. You will also mentor junior team members, fostering their development and contributing to the enhancement of core internal libraries, thereby elevating the team's overall technical capabilities.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to leveraging AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) as accelerators for producing high-quality outputs, staying at the forefront of technological advancements in data science.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business operations, to integrate risk models seamlessly into our product offerings and operational workflows.
- • This position offers a unique opportunity to influence strategic decisions at a rapidly growing fintech company, working with cutting-edge technology and a talented team dedicated to empowering small and medium-sized businesses worldwide.
- • Your work will directly contribute to Wayflyer's mission of providing accessible and efficient capital to businesses, enabling them to achieve their growth potential.
- • You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest research and techniques in credit risk modeling, machine learning, and data science, and to apply this knowledge to solve complex business problems.
- • The role involves a deep dive into the nuances of credit risk, understanding the interplay between risk appetite, portfolio performance, and business expansion.
- • You will play a key role in the continuous improvement of our data infrastructure and modeling pipelines, ensuring scalability and efficiency as Wayflyer continues its global expansion.
- • This is a hands-on role where you will not only design and develop models but also ensure their successful deployment and ongoing monitoring in a production environment.
- • You will be a key contributor to the team's knowledge base, sharing insights and best practices through presentations and documentation.
- • The impact of your work will be measured by the direct contribution to Wayflyer's financial health, risk mitigation, and strategic growth objectives.
- • You will be empowered to take ownership of projects from conception to completion, demonstrating initiative and a results-oriented mindset.
- • The role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- • You will be part of a dynamic and ambitious team, contributing to a culture of innovation and continuous learning within Wayflyer's Quantitative Risk Team.
- • Your contributions will be vital in maintaining Wayflyer's position as a leading provider of innovative financing solutions for SMBs globally.
