  • • Design, architect, and implement scalable data infrastructure on AWS to support both internal analytics and AI-driven product features that enhance contract drafting, review, and negotiation capabilities.
  • • Build and maintain compliant, auditable data storage and processing systems using infrastructure-as-code (CDK) to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, including data retention and deletion workflows.
  • • Develop robust, reproducible data pipelines and orchestration systems using Dagster, Glue, and Athena to generate core datasets that power product functionality and internal decision-making.
  • • Own end-to-end lifecycle of data pipelines including backfill, reprocessing, monitoring, and evolution to ensure reliability and scalability as data volume and complexity grow.
  • • Collaborate with product, AI, and legal teams to translate ambiguous, high-impact platform requirements into clear, actionable engineering tasks that unblock product delivery and accelerate innovation.
  • • Contribute to architectural decisions and documentation for the evolving data platform, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and performance standards.
  • • Implement data retention and deletion mechanisms that meet SOC2-aligned audit requirements and legal compliance standards for contract data handled by law firms and in-house legal teams.
  • • Operate within a distributed team environment to identify and execute impactful improvements to the data platform that directly enhance AI model performance and user productivity.
  • • Design and maintain data ingestion, transformation, and storage workflows that integrate with SageMaker for machine learning workflows and product analytics.
  • • Ensure all data systems are secure, traceable, and optimized for cost, reliability, and simplicity while balancing tradeoffs between engineering effort and business impact.
  • • Drive continuous improvement of data infrastructure by implementing automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing mechanisms to reduce operational burden and increase system resilience.
  • • Translate complex technical requirements into clear documentation and communication for cross-functional stakeholders, including non-engineers in legal and product roles.
  • • Participate in platform evolution by proposing and implementing enhancements that reduce latency, improve data quality, and enable faster iteration cycles for AI features.
  • • Maintain a strong focus on compliance and data governance, ensuring that all data handling practices align with the legal industry’s stringent requirements for confidentiality and auditability.
  • • Proactively identify and resolve system failures, taking ownership of incidents and implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • • Work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks based on business impact and technical debt, while collaborating effectively with remote team members across time zones.
  • • Support the integration of product usage data into central data warehouses to enable behavioral analytics and feature optimization grounded in real-world lawyer workflows.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering or Data Platform Engineering
  • • Exceptional communication skills with ability to clearly document and advocate architectural decisions to diverse audiences
  • • Proven ability to take ambiguous, high-impact platform requirements from concept to production-ready system
  • • Firm grasp of cloud infrastructure (AWS), distributed systems, and security/compliance considerations
  • • Ability to break down complex, vague requirements into clear, shipable enhancements
  • • Self-starter and problem-solver motivated by curiosity and team success
