- • As a Senior Data Engineer on the Feature Platform Team, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the foundational infrastructure that powers our advanced ML Ads Recommendation capabilities. This involves taking end-to-end ownership of highly visible projects, from the initial conceptualization and feature scoping to architecture design, benchmarking new technologies, and ultimately, production release. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of our machine learning architecture, encompassing both offline training and online inference components. This dual responsibility requires bridging the gap between massive-scale data processing, which includes handling substantial batch jobs and near real-time feature updates, and high-load online services that must deliver features for inference with stringent low-latency requirements. Your day-to-day will involve architecting and implementing solutions that ensure consistency between offline training and online inference, effectively eliminating training-serving skew, and empowering our Data Scientists to rapidly deploy next-generation, high-performing models. You will be a key player in accelerating the ML lifecycle by providing a unified, scalable, and highly available architecture for computing, storing, and serving features in various modes: batch, real-time, and on-demand.
- • Beyond the core engineering tasks, you will actively engage in proactive data innovation. This means going beyond passive implementation by deeply understanding the downstream Data Science domain to identify high-impact feature opportunities. Simultaneously, you will collaborate closely with upstream data engineering teams to grasp ingestion mechanisms, extending all the way to the SDK and bidding platforms, to unlock and integrate new data signals. This holistic approach ensures that our feature platform is not only robust but also continuously enriched with valuable data.
- • A significant part of your role will involve collaborating closely with Data Scientists and ML Engineers to design, scale, and optimize the core components of our ML infrastructure. This includes our Feature Store, which must support batch, streaming, and low-latency on-demand computation, as well as engines for generating on-demand training datasets. You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing mission-critical data pipelines that handle both extensive batch processing and continuous real-time streams, ensuring sub-second feature updates to adapt to the ever-evolving business and machine learning needs. Furthermore, you will actively build and maintain the high-load backend applications that power our ML model serving, guaranteeing low latency and high availability even under heavy traffic conditions. This requires a deep understanding of system scalability, high availability, reliability, low-latency API design, and security best practices.
- • You will work hand-in-hand with our infrastructure teams to guarantee the reliability, security, and immense scalability necessary for a thriving ad-network ecosystem. This collaborative effort ensures that our platform can handle the demands of a rapidly growing business. You will thrive in a fast-paced agile environment characterized by rapid decision-making processes, collaborating daily with back-end developers, data scientists, and product managers to achieve shared goals. A crucial aspect of this role is your contribution to our engineering culture. - • The Feature Platform Team is a foundational infrastructure engine within the Voodoo Ad-Network, an autonomous product group comprising around 60 highly driven professionals. Our ambitious mission is to build top-tier ad network services by leveraging Voodoo’s massive first-party data ecosystem to optimize and scale monetization. We are in a significant growth phase, expanding into new ventures such as opening to external inventory, penetrating the external advertiser market, and driving social network monetization following our recent acquisition of BeReal. The Feature Platform Team is specifically focused on providing the unified data layer for our machine learning features, inspired by industry-leading feature stores. Our goal is to accelerate the ML lifecycle by offering a unified, scalable, and highly available architecture for feature computation, storage, and serving. We are a proactive team that continuously explores new data signals and feature engineering opportunities to push the boundaries of our targeting performance.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain deep expertise in building and scaling real-time streaming architectures using technologies like Flink, and contribute to the development of high-performance, low-latency backend applications using Golang. You will gain invaluable experience in modern Data Lakehouse design principles, working with open table formats like Iceberg, and optimizing data pipelines with tools like DBT. You will also deepen your understanding of cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and gain practical experience in managing ML infrastructure at scale, including mitigating training-serving skew and implementing robust model monitoring strategies. 🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, ML Engineer, Backend Engineer, or a closely related role in a high-scale environment.
- • Extensive hands-on experience working with Flink or Spark at scale, with deep expertise in Flink (or similar stateful streaming platforms).
- • Advanced expertise in Python for robust ETL pipelines and custom feature-definition SDKs/DSLs.
- • Experience or a strong willingness to work with Golang for building high-performance, low-latency backend applications.
