📋 Description

• Own and improve the Kafka consumer pipeline that captures, transforms, and warehouses event data from multiple source systems.
• Design and build CDC-based pipelines to capture and replicate real-time data changes using tools like Debezium or similar technologies.
• Design, build, and maintain foundational data serving layers that scale to support both engineering and analytics use cases across the organization.
• Act as a trusted data consultant across teams, advising on data integration strategies, data modelling, and schema design to ensure consistency and reliability.
• Deliver self-service data solutions that empower engineers, analysts, and business users to access and work with data independently without heavy dependency on the platform team.
• Drive data observability by implementing tests, metrics, and alerting systems using tools such as Datadog to monitor pipeline health and data quality.
• Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to ensure timely, reliable, and accurate data availability for critical financial analytics in trading, payments, risk, and compliance.
• Champion a data-driven culture by sharing knowledge, establishing best practices, and improving data literacy across engineering, analytics, and business units.
• Work within a Lakehouse architecture backed by Apache Iceberg, managing infrastructure as code via Terraform to deploy and maintain cloud-based data resources.
• Operate primarily on GCP, leveraging its services to build scalable, secure, and performant data infrastructure.
• Translate complex business needs from engineers, analysts, and non-technical stakeholders into robust, scalable data platform solutions.
• Maintain high standards for data reliability, scalability, and usability, ensuring the platform lowers the barrier to working with data across the organization.
• Contribute to the evolution of Upvest’s data platform as it scales to support Europe’s leading fintechs and financial institutions including Revolut, N26, DKB, and Raisin.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating event-driven data pipelines using Kafka or similar streaming infrastructure
• Experience with Python, Go, or another systems-level language for developing data infrastructure
• Solid SQL skills for data transformation, modelling, and staging layer development
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Terraform for managing cloud resources
• Experience working with cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure), with preference for GCP
• Experience with schema design and data modelling principles and ability to advise cross-functional teams
