Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own end-to-end advanced analytics initiatives that directly shape how 100+ Schnucks stores operate every day. You will lead cross-functional squads to translate raw, multi-terabyte data—spanning POS transactions, supply-chain IoT feeds, loyalty programs, and unstructured social sentiment—into concrete actions that cut waste, boost on-shelf availability, and personalize the shopper journey.
  • • Architect and productionize forecasting engines that predict demand down to the SKU-store-day level. Your probabilistic models will feed automated ordering systems, dynamic labor schedulers, and promotional pricing algorithms, saving millions in inventory carrying costs while delighting customers with fresher products.
  • • Design large-scale optimization routines using mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and CPLEX to solve network flow, truck routing, and warehouse slotting puzzles. You will quantify trade-offs between service level, carbon footprint, and cost, then present scenario analyses that empower senior leadership to make data-driven capital decisions.
  • • Build deep-learning vision models that interpret in-store camera feeds to detect out-of-stock events, long checkout lines, and planogram compliance in real time. These models will run on AWS GPU instances and stream insights to store managers’ mobile dashboards, shrinking reaction times from hours to minutes.
  • • Establish rigorous experiment design and A/B testing frameworks across digital and physical touchpoints. You will define success metrics, calculate required sample sizes, and partner with IT to deploy experiment flags in mobile apps and e-commerce platforms, ensuring every new feature or process change is causally validated.
  • • Create scalable, automated MLOps pipelines that retrain, validate, and deploy hundreds of models with minimal human intervention. You will champion CI/CD for data science, leveraging Docker, SageMaker, and feature stores to guarantee reproducibility, governance, and rollback safety.
  • • Co-lead the evolution of Schnucks’ evergreen Data Science Academy, mentoring analysts and engineers through hands-on workshops, code reviews, and lunch-and-learns. Your curriculum will cover Python best practices, advanced SQL, causal inference, and storytelling with data, raising the analytics IQ of the entire enterprise.
  • • Translate complex findings into crisp, actionable narratives for non-technical stakeholders. From board-level strategic decks to store manager huddles, you will use BI visualization tools (Tableau, QuickSight, or Power BI) to spotlight opportunities worth $500K+ in annual benefit.
  • • Drive data governance maturity by authoring model documentation standards, bias-detection checklists, and privacy-compliant data-handling protocols. You will partner with Legal and InfoSec to ensure every algorithm meets PCI, HIPAA, and emerging AI regulations.
  • • Monitor macro business trends—labor markets, inflation, commodity prices—and feed external signals into predictive models. Quarterly, you will brief the CFO and merchandising VPs on risk scenarios and upside potentials, influencing billion-dollar assortment and pricing strategies.
  • • Champion a culture of continuous improvement by tracking model performance KPIs, champion-challenger tests, and feedback loops from store operations. You will retire or refactor underperforming models, ensuring the analytics portfolio always delivers measurable ROI.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or a closely-related quantitative discipline
  • • 3+ years of hands-on experience in an applied statistics or data science role, including statistical modeling and analysis of large, complex data sets
  • • Demonstrated expertise in optimization, predictive modeling, and unstructured data analysis; experience with mixed-integer linear programming and CPLEX is essential
  • • Strong technical proficiency in Python, SQL, R, AWS, and relational databases; Machine Learning Specialty certificate or equivalent credential preferred

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Corporate remote work flexibility with core hours 8:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday–Friday
  • • Teammate merchandise discount after qualifying period
  • • Clear advancement pathways—Schnucks promotes heavily from within, turning part-time roles into long-term careers
  • • Work for a top-100 privately owned U.S. company and top-10 privately owned supermarket chain, celebrated for its friendly, family-oriented culture
