- • Drive the evolution of Bettermile’s delivery intelligence platform by developing machine learning models that optimize the final steps of delivery to increase field driver productivity.
- • Build and deploy customer-facing, production-ready systems that integrate seamlessly into Bettermile’s product suite, ensuring scalability and reliability under high-volume demand (hundreds of millions of requests per month).
- • Shape the long-term data strategy for hyperlocal delivery intelligence by identifying high-impact areas where geospatial and ML-driven insights deliver maximum customer value.
- • Design and maintain scalable, observable geodata workflows that enable rapid onboarding of new markets and continuous improvement in existing ones.
- • Ingest, normalize, correct, and enrich messy real-world address data using open and proprietary sources to power first-mile routing and last-meter delivery features.
- • Lead cross-team initiatives around data strategy, model deployment, and system architecture, ensuring alignment with product and engineering goals.
- • Mentor junior data scientists by providing technical guidance, code reviews, and career development support within a flat, collaborative hierarchy.
- • Utilize Python and SQL to develop advanced analytics systems, embedding them into existing product landscapes with minimal friction and maximum impact.
- • Leverage AWS services (Athena, SageMaker), Snowflake, and dbt to build and manage end-to-end data pipelines for geospatial enrichment and model training.
- • Orchestrate and schedule workflows using Dagster to ensure robust, repeatable data processing across global markets.
- • Visualize insights and monitor model performance using Quicksight, Metabase, and Streamlit to support product and operational decision-making.
- • Explore and apply LLMs and modern AI-driven features to enhance address intelligence, geocoding accuracy, and natural language understanding in delivery contexts.
- • Work in a hybrid model with weekly team days in the modern, kid- and pet-friendly Berlin-Kreuzberg office, and remote work up to 12 weeks per year.
- • Collaborate with a diverse, international team of 130+ people speaking 36 languages, contributing to a culture of autonomy, appreciation, and professional growth.
- • Contribute to a learning-focused environment with quick decision-making, equal-footing collaboration, and early responsibility in a fast-growing logistics tech company.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in Data Science deploying complex models
- • Thorough understanding of machine learning algorithms and translating them into tangible business solutions
- • Proficient in designing advanced analytics systems and embedding them smoothly into existing product landscapes
- • Proven ability to autonomously build strategies from scratch and extract high-impact insights from vast datasets
- • Strong ownership mindset used to drive cross-functional projects and mentor junior team members
