📋 Description

• Architect, deploy and continuously optimize a global, hybrid-cloud database estate that spans Azure SQL, AWS RDS Aurora, Oracle Cloud Database and on-premises Oracle 19c/21c clusters serving 250+ financial institutions and 950+ internal users across LATAM, North America, Europe and APAC.
• Own end-to-end high-availability and disaster-recovery design: multi-region AlwaysOn AGs, Data Guard, GoldenGate, cross-cloud replication and zero-downtime patching strategies that guarantee 99.99 % uptime for mission-critical insurance and investment platforms processing millions of transactions daily.
• Lead performance-tuning fire-drills and proactive optimization programs—deep-dive into execution plans, rewrite high-cost PL/SQL and T-SQL, craft intelligent indexing strategies, leverage partitioning and in-memory technologies to cut query latency by 40 % and slash infrastructure spend.
• Build next-generation automation with PowerShell, Python, T-SQL and PL/SQL to eliminate repetitive DBA tasks: self-healing index maintenance, auto-scaling storage, drift detection, compliance reporting and CI/CD-driven database deployments that shrink release cycles from weeks to hours.
• Partner with global development squads, solution architects and product owners to translate complex business requirements into resilient, normalized data models, enforce coding standards and review schema changes before they hit production.
• Harden security posture end-to-end: implement TDE, Always Encrypted, Oracle TDE, fine-grained auditing, RBAC, dynamic data masking and GDPR/SOC 2/ISO 27001 controls; conduct quarterly vulnerability scans and lead incident-response tabletop exercises.
• Design bullet-proof backup, recovery and business-continuity playbooks: RPO ≤ 5 min, RTO ≤ 30 min, automated restore validation, cross-account/cross-region vaulting and quarterly failover drills that satisfy both auditors and executives.
• Drive capacity planning and cost optimization: forecast CPU, memory and I/O growth using historical telemetry, negotiate cloud reserved instances and on-prem storage refresh cycles, and present TCO/ROI analyses to senior leadership.
• Mentor a distributed team of intermediate and junior DBAs through pair-programming, brown-bag sessions and documented runbooks; foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing across time zones (EST, CST, GMT-3, GMT+8).
• Provide strategic guidance on cloud-migration roadmaps: evaluate lift-and-shift vs. refactor vs. re-platform options, pilot Oracle Autonomous DB and Azure SQL Hyperscale, and create migration factories that minimize risk and downtime.
• Participate in a 24×7 global on-call rotation (one week every 6–8 weeks) to resolve Sev-1 incidents within 15 minutes, perform root-cause analyses and feed lessons learned back into engineering practices.
• Maintain living documentation: ER diagrams, SOPs, disaster-recovery runbooks, security playbooks and architectural decision records stored in Confluence and versioned in Git for auditability and onboarding efficiency.
• Evaluate emerging database technologies—NoSQL, NewSQL, distributed SQL, in-memory HTAP—and run proof-of-concepts that could give Equisoft a competitive edge in the insurance and wealth-management space.
• Champion DevOps culture by integrating database changes into Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions pipelines using Terraform, ARM, Liquibase and Flyway, enabling true infrastructure-as-code and immutable database deployments.

🎯 Requirements

• 5–7 years of hands-on, enterprise-grade SQL Server (2016+) and Oracle (11g/12c/19c/21c) administration, including AlwaysOn, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated experience designing and managing cloud databases on Azure SQL, AWS RDS Aurora or Oracle Cloud with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
• Advanced scripting and automation skills in PowerShell, Python, T-SQL and PL/SQL to build self-service DBA tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent; relevant Microsoft, Oracle or AWS database certifications strongly preferred.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) for seamless collaboration with global stakeholders; Spanish or French a plus.
