📋 Description

• Senior DevOps Engineer at Lucidworks, Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the company’s cloud-based Fusion platform, which powers mission-critical search and browse experiences for global enterprises in retail, finance, manufacturing, and B2B commerce.
• This role directly impacts customer success by enabling seamless, high-availability infrastructure that supports Lucidworks’ AI-driven search technology used by industry leaders such as American Airlines, Lenovo, Red Hat, and Cisco Systems.
• Day to day, the Senior DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and maintain automated infrastructure-as-code solutions using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud environments across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• They will develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools to enable rapid, safe deployment of Fusion clusters and microservices for managed cloud customers.
• The engineer will monitor system health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Datadog, setting up alerts and responding to incidents to maintain 99.9%+ uptime for customer workloads.
• They will collaborate with software engineering and product teams to integrate new features into the platform, ensuring smooth rollouts and minimal disruption during version upgrades.
• The role includes conducting regular capacity planning, performance tuning, and security hardening of Kubernetes-based environments hosting Fusion workloads.
• The Senior DevOps Engineer will mentor junior team members, contribute to blameless postmortems, and help evolve internal runbooks and operational best practices.
• They will participate in on-call rotation to provide tier-3 support for critical production issues, ensuring rapid resolution and customer communication during incidents.
• About the team: The Cloud Platform team is a distributed, high-performing group focused on delivering a resilient, scalable, and secure managed service for Lucidworks’ Fusion product, enabling customers to leverage AI-powered search without managing infrastructure.
• The team operates with a strong DevOps culture, emphasizing automation, observability, and continuous improvement, and works closely with engineering, support, and customer success to align technical delivery with business outcomes.
• In this role, the engineer will deepen expertise in cloud-native architectures, infrastructure automation, and large-scale system reliability while contributing to a platform that handles petabytes of search data and millions of queries daily.
• They will have the opportunity to influence technical strategy, adopt emerging technologies (e.g., service meshes, GitOps, AI-driven ops), and grow into a leadership role within a company committed to innovation in enterprise search and AI.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or cloud infrastructure roles with proven success in managing production environments at scale.
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including networking, storage, compute, and managed services (EKS, AKS, GKE, or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi) and configuration management for consistent, repeatable deployments.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including Helm, Operators, and custom controller development for managing complex stateful applications.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or Go to build tools, operators, and integration scripts.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and tracing stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, Jaeger) and experience setting up SLOs, SLIs, and alerting policies.
