- • Serve as the inaugural Senior Electrical Systems & Sustaining Engineer to establish the foundational sustaining framework for Mainspring Energy’s Electrical Engineering department.
- • Lead end-to-end problem resolution across all electrical domains, including low-voltage electronics and complex power conversion systems, ensuring hardware integrity across commercial deployments.
- • Act as the operational shield for core design teams by investigating and resolving complex, multi-domain hardware issues that impact reliability, performance, and safety.
- • Drive systematic root-cause analysis of field failures and design anomalies, translating findings into actionable design improvements and documentation.
- • Develop and implement sustaining processes that go beyond component obsolescence management to include long-term hardware reliability, serviceability, and field support protocols.
- • Collaborate directly with manufacturing, field operations, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of sustaining engineering solutions into production and service workflows.
- • Own the technical execution of sustaining initiatives with full autonomy, creating a scalable blueprint for future expansion of the sub-team.
- • Analyze field data and customer feedback to identify recurring electrical system issues and prioritize engineering interventions that maximize uptime and reduce total cost of ownership.
- • Maintain deep technical familiarity with Mainspring’s Linear Generator architecture, including its unique fuel-flexible power generation systems and associated electrical controls.
- • Document sustaining procedures, failure modes, and design change requests with precision to ensure knowledge retention and cross-team alignment.
- • Partner with global energy partners including AEP, NextEra Energy Resources, and Schneider Electric to support sustaining needs in deployed systems.
- • Maintain a proactive, pragmatic approach to engineering challenges, balancing innovation with operational reliability in a fast-scaling commercial environment.

- • Report directly to the Electrical Engineering leadership and serve as a technical authority for sustaining-related decisions across the organization.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as an Electrical Systems Engineer or Sustaining Engineer in a hardware-intensive environment with complex power systems
- • Demonstrated ability to lead root-cause analysis and resolution of multi-domain electrical failures in production or field-deployed systems
- • Deep technical knowledge of low-voltage electronics and high-power conversion systems
- • Experience developing sustaining processes that extend beyond obsolescence management to include reliability, serviceability, and field support
- • Strong autonomy and ability to establish new engineering frameworks from scratch
- • Excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills
