- • As a Senior Enterprise Architect at Velera, you will be a pivotal strategic technology leader, instrumental in harmonizing business objectives with a comprehensive enterprise-wide architectural direction. This role is designed for an individual who can provide visionary leadership, robust governance, and meticulous oversight across the critical domains of business, application, data, technology, and security. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that Velera’s technological capabilities evolve in a cohesive, secure, and sustainable manner, directly contributing to the company's mission of accelerating partner success through innovative financial technology solutions and inspired service.
- • You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, Strategic Portfolio Managers (SPMs), Portfolio Managers (PMs), and Product leadership. Your engagement will involve evaluating new strategic initiatives, shaping demand for technology investments, and transforming nascent concepts into well-defined, actionable architectural deliverables. This proactive involvement ensures that technology investments are strategically aligned and technically sound from the outset.
- • A core function of this role is conducting structured discovery engagements. Through these, you will translate complex business ideas into clear "Statements of Architecture." These statements will meticulously define architectural epics, identify key architectural stakeholders, outline architectural dependencies, provide high-level estimate ranges, categorize architecture tiers (1, 2, or 3), specify required standards, and detail the necessary architectural building blocks. This structured approach provides clarity and direction for subsequent design and development phases.
- • You will serve as the crucial strategic bridge between the strategic planning functions (SPM/PM) and the technical solution design (Solution Architects). By providing Solution Architects with the essential architectural requirements, context, and constraints, you will empower them to design scalable, secure, and compliant solutions. This involves overseeing the enterprise continuum, maintaining the architecture repository, developing capability models, defining roadmaps, and enforcing governance processes to ensure seamless alignment across diverse teams and strict adherence to enterprise standards.
- • This position demands a unique blend of deep technical breadth, sharp business acumen, mastery of enterprise modeling techniques, and exceptional communication and influencing skills. You will be expected to influence senior stakeholders effectively while simultaneously elevating the overall architectural maturity of the organization.
- • In your day-to-day activities, you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the enterprise-wide architecture vision, standards, principles, and reference models. You will ensure that the enterprise architecture remains tightly aligned with organizational strategy, capability maturity priorities, and multi-year roadmaps. Governance will be a key aspect, ensuring architecture compliance through established frameworks like the Architecture Review Board (ARB), Technology Planning Board (PTB), and Project Oversight (PTO).
- • You will actively partner with SPMs and PMs during discovery sessions, transforming business ideas into structured architectural concepts and creating detailed Statements of Architecture. This includes documenting architectural decisions and constraints early to mitigate downstream risks and enhance delivery predictability. You will provide data-driven architectural insights to support prioritization, investment decisions, and portfolio planning, acting as the architectural authority to determine escalation paths for architectural review.
- • Your role as a bridge between strategy and solution architecture means you will define the enterprise direction and architectural requirements, enabling Solution Architects to design technical solutions within these defined boundaries. You will also partner with the Center of Excellence and Business Process teams to perform business capability modeling, gap analysis, and value stream analysis.
- • Developing and maintaining long-term technology, application, and data roadmaps aligned with business strategy will be critical. You will assess emerging technologies for enterprise adoption and lead modernization strategies, technology rationalization, and end-of-support planning. Your oversight will ensure consistency, reuse, and alignment across all initiatives, programs, and delivery teams.
- • Ensuring architecture aligns with regulatory standards (PCI, PII, etc.) and evaluating architectures for security, scalability, performance, resilience, and interoperability are paramount. You will also guide design decisions related to High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and overall operational effectiveness.
- • Finally, you will act as a leader and collaborator, coaching and mentoring architects and technical stakeholders, leading ARB meetings and Communities of Practice, and effectively communicating architectural vision and decisions to diverse audiences, fostering collaboration across business and technology domains.
