📋 Description

• Design, build, and maintain robust data models and transformation pipelines using dbt or equivalent tools to ensure finance data is structured, reliable, and scalable across the data warehouse.
• Translate complex financial logic into clean, well-documented SQL queries and data models that finance teams can rely on for reporting and decision-making.
• Implement and maintain data quality checks, reconciliation logic, and monitoring systems across critical finance data pipelines to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact downstream users.
• Define, govern, and document core finance KPIs and metrics to establish a single source of truth across the business, including clear ownership, definitions, and calculation logic.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Analytics Engineering, and Product teams to embed finance data requirements into data infrastructure from the earliest stages of project development.
• Automate manual finance data processes to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency while reducing operational burden on finance and data teams.
• Write complex SQL queries with advanced window functions, performance tuning, and optimization for warehouse platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
• Ensure data correctness and integrity in financial reporting by building systems with high standards of accuracy from the outset, recognizing the critical nature of finance data.
• Communicate technical data concepts clearly to non-technical finance stakeholders and translate business requirements into precise technical specifications.
• Take ownership of data pipelines and systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues without waiting for escalation.
• Maintain clear documentation of data models, transformations, metrics, and ownership to support auditability and cross-team alignment.
• Work in a hybrid environment with office days on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Tuesday and Friday.
• Contribute to a fast-paced fintech environment where technical contributions directly shape how the business understands its financial performance.
• Engage with financial reporting concepts to accurately implement finance logic and constructively challenge requirements when necessary.
• Utilize data orchestration tools such as Airflow or equivalent to manage complex data workflows.
• Apply scripting skills in Python or another language to automate data manipulation and streamline analytics processes.
• Support the growth of Zilch’s finance data infrastructure as the company scales to serve over 5 million customers.

🎯 Requirements

• Advanced SQL expertise with fluency in complex queries, window functions, performance tuning, and warehouse-specific behavior (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
• Hands-on experience building data models and transformation pipelines using dbt or a comparable transformation framework
• 3–5+ years in a data analyst, analytics engineer, or finance data role, ideally within financial services or fintech
• Proven experience implementing data quality checks, reconciliation logic, and monitoring in production environments
• Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate technical data concepts to finance teams and non-technical audiences
• Deep commitment to data correctness and integrity in financial reporting
