📋 Description

• • As a Senior FinOps Analyst at Upsun (formerly Platform.sh), you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our cloud financial management strategy, ensuring our cloud infrastructure is both cost-efficient and commercially scalable.
• • This senior-level individual contributor role reports into the Senior Director, FP&A and IT, and serves as a critical bridge between Engineering, Finance, and Executive leadership.
• • You will be a primary architect of our FinOps practice, transforming vast cloud consumption datasets into actionable strategic roadmaps that drive measurable, long-term cost improvements.
• • Your core responsibility will be to own the unit economics of our cloud environment, empowering the organization to innovate aggressively while maintaining world-class fiscal discipline.
• • You will provide high-level technical and financial leadership, mandating best practices for resource tagging, commitment architecture, and waste elimination.
• • Your work will ensure that our cloud investments are not only transparent but also predictable drivers of business value.
• • Design and lead the execution of the FinOps roadmap, ensuring all global initiatives align with multi-year business objectives and the company's architectural evolution.
• • Define and track sophisticated unit cost metrics, such as cost per customer and cost per transaction, to provide the Board with clear visibility into cloud efficiency relative to revenue growth.
• • Embed with Engineering and Product teams to integrate "Cost-as-a-Code" principles, making architectural cost-efficiency a prerequisite for deployment cycles.
• • Act as the primary advisor to stakeholders, translating complex technical cloud concepts into clear financial risks and opportunities to ensure strategic alignment across the organization.
• • Lead the budget forecasting process for cloud infrastructure using robust driver-based models, ensuring all cloud operations adhere to strict financial controls and compliance standards.
• • Actively monitor and optimize the utilization of Reserved Instances (RIs), Savings Plans, and Committed Use Discounts (CUDs) across our multi-cloud environment to maximize savings.
• • Lead the analysis of Cloud Service Provider (CSP) pricing trends and Private Pricing Agreements to negotiate and secure optimal commercial terms with vendors.
• • Spearhead the execution of specific cost-saving projects, leveraging data analysis and experimentation to drive continuous improvement in cloud resource efficiency.
• • You will be responsible for developing and maintaining advanced financial models and reports that provide deep insights into cloud spending patterns and cost optimization opportunities.
• • Collaborate closely with Engineering teams to identify opportunities for architectural optimization that reduce operational costs without compromising performance or reliability.
• • Educate and evangelize FinOps best practices across the organization, fostering a culture of cost awareness and accountability among all teams.
• • Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in cloud cost management and FinOps, bringing innovative solutions to Upsun.
• • You will play a key role in vendor negotiations, leveraging your expertise to secure favorable pricing and terms for our cloud services.
• • Contribute to the development of internal tools and dashboards to enhance visibility and control over cloud expenditures.
• • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements related to cloud spending.
• • Analyze the financial impact of new cloud service adoption and provide recommendations for cost-effective implementation.
• • Drive initiatives to automate cost allocation, reporting, and optimization processes.
• • You will be a key player in strategic planning sessions, providing financial insights to guide future cloud investments and technology decisions.
