- • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Fraud Analyst to join our dynamic Identity & Fraud Strategy team. This pivotal role is central to Bilt's comprehensive fraud program, encompassing identity verification (KYC), account integrity, the security of checkout and payment flows, prevention of account takeovers (ATO), and safeguarding against loyalty rewards abuse. This is a high-ownership, individual contributor position that demands a proactive and strategic approach.
- • In this role, you will be instrumental in both investigating and building proactive prevention systems. You will deploy sophisticated detection logic, refine existing workflows, and fortify our product experiences against evolving fraud tactics. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, Compliance, and our banking and payment partners to swiftly identify and neutralize emerging threats. This is not a role focused on routine queue processing. Instead, we require an individual who can independently identify new attack patterns and rapidly implement effective mitigations. These mitigations could range from deploying new rules and adjusting thresholds to implementing risk-based step-up authentication, updating workflows, or escalating issues to our partners.
- • Your responsibilities will span several critical areas:
- • **Identity, KYC & Account Integrity:** You will investigate identity risk signals across the entire member lifecycle, from onboarding to ongoing account management. This includes identifying and mitigating risks associated with synthetic identities, compromised credentials, and patterns indicating risky device, email, or phone usage. You will develop and implement robust detection logic and monitoring systems to identify and intercept fraudulent actors early in their attempts. Furthermore, you will enhance our KYC fraud decisioning and verification workflows, meticulously balancing the need for fraud prevention with maintaining high approval rates and ensuring a seamless member experience. Close partnership with our Compliance team will be essential for establishing identity-related controls, defining escalation paths, and adhering to documentation standards.
- • **Checkout & Payments Fraud:** You will diligently monitor and investigate fraud patterns across all checkout and payment surfaces. This includes addressing first-party fraud, promotional abuse, and anomalous purchasing behaviors. Your objective will be to ship effective detection rules, implement velocity controls, and deploy step-up authentication triggers that significantly reduce financial losses without introducing undue friction for our members. You will also play a key role in developing and continuously optimizing our 3D Secure (3DS) policies and routing strategies in collaboration with payment processors and issuer stakeholders, aiming to improve fraud outcomes while minimizing any negative impact on conversion rates.
- • **Account Takeover (ATO):** You will conduct comprehensive end-to-end investigations of ATO cases to pinpoint compromise vectors and identify repeatable patterns of attack. A core part of your role will be to harden our authentication and account recovery flows by leveraging risk-based decisioning, incorporating elements like step-up challenges, device trust assessment, and behavioral velocity flags. You will define, iterate, and maintain detection logic and response playbooks that cover containment strategies, member communication protocols, and ongoing monitoring.
- • **Tooling, Monitoring & Cross-Functional Work:** You will work hands-on with our fraud stack, building and fine-tuning rules, signals, decisioning logic, and case management workflows. As the program scales, you will contribute to the evaluation of new vendors and tooling to ensure we maintain a cutting-edge defense. You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on fraud in product and engineering discussions, and maintain essential operating rhythms with Customer Experience, Compliance, and external partners for escalations and post-mortem analyses.
