Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end development of Kadmos’ salary-payment platform, translating complex maritime-finance regulations into elegant, secure code that 200+ shipping companies and 250,000+ seafarers rely on every month.
- • Architect and evolve our micro-service backend (TypeScript/Node.js, Postgres, Docker, AWS) to handle multi-currency payroll, real-time FX, and SWIFT/SEPA payouts while maintaining PCI-DSS and PSD2 compliance.
- • Design and ship responsive, accessible React/Next.js interfaces that allow crewing managers to run global payroll in minutes and seafarers to receive wages instantly on a Kadmos Visa card—even when they’re offline at sea.
- • Lead technical design sessions, write detailed RFCs, and drive consensus across product, compliance, and security teams to ensure every feature meets both user needs and stringent maritime-finance regulations.
- • Establish and champion engineering best practices: automated testing (Jest, Cypress), continuous deployment (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD), observability (Datadog, Sentry), and rigorous code reviews that keep our defect rate <0.3%.
- • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair-programming, architecture reviews, and career-development plans, raising the overall bar of our 12-person Berlin-based engineering team.
- • Optimise performance and cost at scale—our transaction volume grows 15 % month-over-month—by profiling databases, tuning AWS infrastructure, and introducing caching layers that cut latency by 40 %.
- • Collaborate daily with our compliance officers to implement KYC/AML workflows, end-to-end encryption, and audit trails that satisfy both EU and flag-state regulators without compromising user experience.
- • Act as the technical bridge between Kadmos and external partners (banks, card schemes, maritime ERPs), integrating REST/GraphQL APIs and ensuring 99.9 % uptime for mission-critical payroll deadlines.
- • Contribute to the product roadmap by analysing user feedback, shipping A/B experiments, and translating data-driven insights into features that reduce payroll processing time by 50 % for our largest clients.
- • Champion security-first thinking: run threat-modeling sessions, coordinate red-team exercises, and ensure every pull request passes static-analysis and container-scanning gates before reaching production.
- • Shape our remote engineering culture—async stand-ups, documentation-first decisions, and inclusive retros—so that Kadmos remains a place where diverse, world-class talent thrives regardless of time zone.
