📋 Description

• As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer at Business Wire, a Berkshire Hathaway company and global leader in press release distribution and regulatory disclosure, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the IT infrastructure that powers mission-critical communications for organizations worldwide. Your work directly supports the company’s mission to help businesses accurately publicize market-moving news and multimedia while driving meaningful audience engagement.
• You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and resilient infrastructure systems, with a strong focus on automation, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution to minimize downtime and maximize system availability across global operations.
• Day to day, you will manage and optimize Linux-based server environments, ensuring system stability, security patching, and performance tuning across physical and virtual infrastructures.
• You will develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar tools to streamline routine tasks such as provisioning, configuration management, log rotation, and backup validation, reducing manual effort and increasing operational efficiency.
• You will monitor system health using industry-standard tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or ELK stack), analyze metrics, and respond to alerts to prevent service degradation before it impacts users or internal teams.
• You will collaborate closely with software and systems engineering teams to support application deployments, troubleshoot complex system-level issues, and provide guidance on infrastructure requirements for new features and services.
• You will implement and enforce security best practices, including firewall configuration, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanning, and access controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
• You will participate in capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives, analyzing resource utilization (CPU, memory, storage, I/O) to recommend upgrades or architectural improvements that support growing workloads.
• You will maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, procedures, and incident responses, contributing to knowledge sharing and team resilience.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and optimizing Linux-based systems in enterprise or production environments
• Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and task orchestration
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and infrastructure-as-code practices
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, load balancing) and storage systems (SAN, NAS, RAID)
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues, analyze logs, and perform root cause analysis under pressure
