- • Own end-to-end insider threat investigations, including triage, evidence collection, employee interviews, and stakeholder coordination, delivering clear risk assessments and actionable recommendations to leadership.
- • Lead detection and analysis efforts by prioritizing and correlating alerts from insider threat technologies including SIEM, UBA, DLP, and endpoint detection systems to identify patterns and inform mitigation strategies.
- • Partner cross-functionally with Security, Legal, HR, and business teams to design, implement, and refine scalable processes that reduce insider risk and close recurring control gaps across the organization.
- • Shape the team’s analytical capabilities by refining alerting logic, developing automation opportunities, and mentoring junior analysts on investigative tradecraft, evidence handling, and stakeholder communication.
- • Compose decision-ready briefs and risk assessments for senior leadership, translating complex technical and behavioral findings into concise, narrative-driven insights with clear next steps.
- • Maintain rigorous adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks governing insider threat programs while handling highly sensitive and confidential employee-related information.
- • Utilize generative AI tools responsibly, ensuring human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness without compromising investigative integrity.
- • Contribute to the global scaling of Coinbase’s insider threat program by aligning detection and response practices with evolving organizational needs and international compliance requirements.
- • Participate in quarterly in-person working sessions ("surges") to collaborate intensively with cross-functional teams and strengthen operational cohesion.
- • Maintain a high bar for operational excellence in a fast-paced, remote-first environment where uncompromising security and trust are foundational to Coinbase’s mission.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in insider threat, security investigations, counterintelligence, fraud detection, or a closely related discipline with deep hands-on expertise in SIEM, UBA, DLP, and endpoint detection technologies.
- • Proven track record of independently leading complex, sensitive investigations involving employee matters, including evidence collection, interviewing techniques, and coordination with Legal, HR, and business stakeholders.
- • Demonstrated ability to identify systemic control gaps and drive scaled improvements to insider threat detection and response processes, including refining alerting logic and recommending automation.
- • Proven experience composing investigative briefs, risk assessments, and analytical products consumed by senior leadership, translating technical and behavioral findings into concise, decision-ready narratives.
- • Working knowledge of legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks governing insider threat programs and experience applying sound judgment with highly sensitive information.
- • Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

- • Base salary range of $167,280–$196,800 USD (excluding equity and bonus).
