- • Join Mixpanel, a leading event analytics platform trusted by over 9,000 customers including Netflix, Pinterest, and Sweetgreen, to empower builders with data-driven insights. We are seeking a highly technical and automation-focused Senior IT Systems Engineer to join our remote Tech Services team in the United States.
- • The Tech Services team is at the forefront of powering Mixpanel's internal operations, ensuring our corporate technology is secure, reliable, and scalable. We embrace an engineering and automation-first mindset, treating our internal systems with the same rigor and reliability as our customer-facing products. This role is crucial for scaling our internal systems and infrastructure, focusing on automation, management, and overall system scalability.
- • As a Senior IT Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining our internal IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you will leverage your expertise in scripting and automation to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve the daily technological experience for all Mixpanel employees.
- • Your primary responsibilities will include developing sophisticated scripts and automation workflows using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash. These scripts will automate critical IT tasks including user onboarding and offboarding, software deployment, and system patching, significantly reducing manual effort and potential for error.
- • You will be responsible for implementing and managing seamless integrations between various corporate systems and tools. This involves understanding system dependencies and architecting solutions that improve data flow and operational efficiency across the organization.
- • A key aspect of this role is authoring comprehensive internal guides. These documents will cover process improvements, reliability patterns, and best practices, serving as a valuable resource for the IT team and the wider organization, promoting knowledge sharing and consistent operational standards.
- • You will design, build, and maintain our internal IT infrastructure, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. This includes managing cloud resources across major providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization platforms, and any necessary on-premises hardware, ensuring a robust and scalable foundation.
- • Managing and automating our identity provider, such as Okta, and its integrations with a wide array of SaaS applications (e.g., Slack, Google Workspace) is a core function. This ensures secure, efficient, and streamlined access control for all employees, aligning with our security posture.
- • You will serve as a key technical resource for the IT helpdesk and other internal teams. This involves troubleshooting complex technical issues, providing effective solutions, and implementing measures to prevent recurrence. You will champion best practices within the IT organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- • Collaboration with the security team is paramount. You will work closely with them to implement and enforce security policies, manage system vulnerabilities, and ensure our internal systems consistently comply with industry standards and best practices, safeguarding company data and infrastructure.
- • This role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for automation and system improvements. You will be expected to research and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance our IT operations.
- • You will contribute to the overall IT strategy, providing technical insights and recommendations for future infrastructure development and system enhancements.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking fundamentals, and endpoint management, with a particular emphasis on supporting Apple/macOS environments.
- • You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of Mixpanel's internal technology ecosystem, directly impacting employee productivity and operational efficiency.
- • This position offers a unique opportunity to apply DevOps principles to corporate IT, driving innovation and efficiency in a fast-paced, remote-first environment. Your work will directly contribute to Mixpanel's mission of helping companies understand their data and make better decisions.
