📋 Description
- • As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Thatgamecompany, you will be a driving force behind the company's core ML models and underlying data and training pipelines, directly impacting player experiences in emotionally resonant video games through data-driven innovation and autonomous project ownership.
- • You will design, build, deploy, and maintain end-to-end machine learning solutions in production, leveraging expertise in statistical modeling, deep learning, NLP, and anomaly detection to solve complex problems while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical work with player-centric goals.
- • Your day-to-day will involve experimenting with hypotheses, evaluating model performance, constructing optimized data pipelines using SQL and big data frameworks (Spark, Beam, BigQuery, etc.), and translating intricate ML architectures into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

- • Thatgamecompany is a mission-driven studio renowned for creating artistically rich, socially connected games that foster emotional engagement; joining this team means contributing to a culture where technical excellence serves human connection and player well-being.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in scalable ML systems, gain exposure to cutting-edge data lakehouse technologies, and grow as a technical leader by mentoring peers, sharing knowledge, and potentially contributing to technical writing and open collaboration.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative field with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end ML products from concept to production.
- • Expert knowledge of statistical modeling and ML methods including Classical ML, Deep Learning, NLP, and Anomaly Detection, with demonstrated ability to select and apply the right tools for specific tasks.
- • Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala for writing clean, maintainable, production-ready code, alongside mastery of optimized SQL and experience with big data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Beam) and modern data lakehouse formats (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Iceberg, Parquet).
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision) starting on day one for employees and dependents, with no waiting period.
