• • As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer within the AI Foundations team, you will play a pivotal role in democratizing AI across the entire organization. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the shared platforms, robust tooling, and best-practice patterns that empower all engineering and product teams to leverage machine learning and generative AI safely, reliably, and efficiently.
• • This is not a research-oriented role; instead, it is a delivery-focused position situated at the dynamic intersection of platform engineering, applied machine learning, and developer enablement. Your work will directly contribute to making AI adoption seamless and preventing its misuse.
• • You will be instrumental in building the core ML and AI capabilities that serve as the bedrock for other teams. Your focus will be on creating an environment where AI is not only easy to adopt but also inherently secure and well-governed.

• • Key responsibilities include architecting, building, and maintaining the foundational AI gateways and inference services that provide Kraken with reliable, efficient, and scalable access to a diverse range of ML and generative AI models.
• • You will design, develop, and evolve internal evaluation tooling and comprehensive monitoring frameworks. These systems will empower teams across Kraken to rigorously measure the performance, quality, and safety of their AI systems at scale, ensuring adherence to high standards.
• • Act as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, guiding and educating software engineers and ML specialists on how to effectively adopt and integrate the foundational AI capabilities. Your mentorship will ensure that AI is not only easy to use but also seamlessly integrated into their daily development workflows.
• • Develop and maintain high-quality, comprehensive documentation, internal guidance, and technical standards. This will equip teams with the knowledge they need to understand when and how to leverage AI effectively and responsibly.
• • Drive continuous improvement in Kraken's AI enablement strategy. This involves a pragmatic approach to balancing speed of delivery, cost-efficiency, and overall quality within the infrastructure you manage.
• • Embrace a pragmatic engineering philosophy, favouring robust, production-ready solutions over theoretical perfection. Your focus will be on delivering tangible value and reliable systems.
• • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and data science, to understand their AI needs and translate them into scalable, foundational solutions.
• • Contribute to the strategic direction of AI at Kraken, identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency gains through the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• • Ensure that all AI solutions adhere to Kraken's stringent security, privacy, and responsible AI principles, fostering trust and ethical AI practices throughout the organization.
• • Champion best practices in MLOps, including robust model monitoring, automated deployment pipelines, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) for ML models.
• • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our cloud infrastructure and data pipelines, ensuring they are optimized for ML workloads.
• • Foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the AI community at Kraken, promoting best practices and innovative approaches to machine learning and generative AI.
