- • Senior Machine Learning Engineer role focused on owning the end-to-end ML lifecycle for SandboxAQ's AI Generation Engine (SAIGE), building AI-first products using Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and agentic frameworks to address global challenges in life sciences, finance, cybersecurity, and more.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and managing data pipelines for LQM training and retraining, developing and testing novel ML models, engineering features from large-scale datasets, analyzing model performance and failure modes, tuning hyperparameters, and collaborating with AI researchers, product managers, and software engineers to translate business objectives into ML roadmaps.
- • The SAIGE team is a founding, cross-functional group of software engineers, ML experts, product managers, and UX researchers within SandboxAQ, a high-growth AI company spun out of Alphabet in 2022, dedicated to advancing science and industry through cutting-edge AI solutions.
- • This role offers the opportunity to drive impact as a founding engineer, shape the technical foundation of a new AI product line, gain deep expertise in LQMs and MLOps at scale, and grow technically and professionally in a mission-driven, entrepreneurial environment that values ownership and innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field of study
- • 5+ years of postgraduate experience in software development
- • Experience developing highly-available, performant, scalable ML systems, including large-scale data processing pipelines
- • Strong expertise in Python (including the ML stack: PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, NumPy, Pandas)
- • Long, successful history of driving the full ML lifecycle: from initial data exploration and hypothesis testing to architecture, model training, evaluation, and production deployment
- • Deep proficiency in MLOps and software best practices, including CI/CD for ML, experiment tracking (e.g., Weights & Biases, MLflow), automated testing, and version control for both code and datasets
