- • As a foundational member of the Inspire & Create team, you will be at the forefront of product development, operating at the critical intersection of sophisticated publishing systems, cutting-edge creative performance optimization, and integrated advertising platforms. Your influence, however, will extend far beyond the immediate confines of your team. As the inaugural Machine Learning Engineer within the Grow group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and informing the entire feedback loop across the entire organization. Your contributions will have a profound impact on the complete customer journey, influencing every stage from Inspire & Create, through Publish & Insights, to Recommend, and back to Inspire.
- • In this role, you will be instrumental in building, rigorously testing, and successfully shipping machine learning-powered features designed to significantly enhance our ad generation experiences. This involves developing sophisticated models and algorithms that drive creativity and effectiveness in advertising content.
- • You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) pipelines. This will be done in close collaboration with our dedicated platform teams, ensuring that our ML infrastructure is robust, efficient, and capable of handling large-scale data and model deployments.
- • A key aspect of your role will involve working intimately with Product Managers, Designers, and Software Engineers. This cross-functional collaboration is essential for aligning on user needs, defining product direction, and ensuring that our ML solutions are deeply integrated into the user experience and deliver tangible product outcomes.
- • You will lead and conduct experiments to rigorously validate assumptions, test hypotheses, and continuously improve model effectiveness. This data-driven approach ensures that our ML features are not only innovative but also demonstrably successful in achieving their objectives.
- • Contribute actively to the development and maintenance of shared ML infrastructure across Canva. This includes establishing and promoting best practices in machine learning, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in our ML development processes.
- • Stay abreast of the latest advancements and state-of-the-art developments in the field of machine learning, particularly in areas relevant to generative AI and advertising technology. Proactively explore and identify opportunities to apply these cutting-edge techniques at scale within Canva's product ecosystem.
- • You will be a key player in driving the product vision for ML within the Grow group, translating complex technical capabilities into user-centric features that solve real business problems for advertisers.

🎯 Requirements
- • Proven track record of delivering impactful ML-powered product features in production environments.
- • Deep technical expertise across the end-to-end ML lifecycle: data wrangling, model development, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- • Proficiency with Python and core ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- • Demonstrated experience with Generative AI (GenAI) concepts and techniques, including LLMs, diffusion models, prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or fine-tuning.
- • Strong product mindset, with a focus on prioritizing ML solutions that demonstrably improve user experience and achieve key product outcomes.
