Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead and mentor two high-performing engineering teams focused on clustering infrastructure and exposure data systems, which form the analytical backbone of Chainalysis’s blockchain intelligence platform.
- • Drive the technical vision and roadmap for entity resolution systems that link blockchain addresses to real-world entities at scale, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and adaptability to evolving blockchain protocols.
- • Re-architect exposure systems to enable real-time tracing of fund movements across blockchains via swaps and bridges, directly countering nation-state actors and darknet market activities.
- • Evolve the next-generation clustering platform to maintain Chainalysis’s leadership in blockchain analytics amid rapid industry changes and emerging privacy-enhancing technologies.
- • Partner with data producers, data scientists, and product stakeholders to deliver a world-class developer and analytical experience across mission-critical data pipelines.
- • Establish and enforce engineering processes, tooling, and best practices that improve team velocity, system reliability, and organizational-wide standards for data correctness.
- • Actively contribute hands-on to technical challenges including architecture design, production incident response, and performance optimization of large-scale distributed systems.
- • Champion a culture of quality, correctness, and continuous improvement across systems that support national security agencies and global financial institutions.
- • Lead teams in embracing an AI-first methodology, where AI is integrated as a core way of working—not as a feature—to automate investigation, enhance data labeling, and accelerate threat detection.
- • Balance strategic planning with deep technical involvement, context-switching between long-term roadmap development and immediate engineering blockers.
- • Own end-to-end responsibility for system reliability, cost efficiency, and data integrity in high-throughput, low-latency data pipelines processing petabytes of blockchain data.
- • Collaborate across engineering, product, and data science teams to align technical execution with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- • Evaluate and implement modern data technologies including Spark, Flink, Databricks, RisingWave, Parquet, Iceberg, Delta, and Paimon to optimize data processing workflows.
- • Utilize AWS serverless architectures and Kubernetes to build scalable, resilient infrastructure that supports global customer demand.
- • Foster a leadership style grounded in technical credibility, where team trust is earned through hands-on experience, clear decision-making, and shared ownership of outcomes.
- • Promote AI fluency across teams by encouraging experimentation, ownership of AI-generated outputs, and collaboration to reinvent how work is done—without reducing effort, but enabling previously impossible capabilities.
- • Maintain a strong focus on cost-conscious engineering while ensuring systems meet the highest standards of precision required for law enforcement and compliance use cases.
- • Stay deeply engaged with the blockchain ecosystem, understanding protocol changes, privacy mechanisms, and emerging on-chain patterns that impact entity resolution and fund tracing accuracy.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong hands-on software and data engineering skills, including code reviews, design documentation, production debugging, and architectural decision-making
- • Deep experience with large-scale data processing and distributed systems such as Spark, Flink, Databricks, Airflow, or similar technologies
- • Proven track record of leading multiple high-performing engineering teams while maintaining technical depth and hands-on involvement
- • Experience managing across multiple complex problem domains simultaneously, balancing strategic planning with technical execution
- • A collaborative leadership style grounded in technical credibility and trust earned through prior hands-on engineering work
- • Strong focus on system reliability, data correctness, and cost-efficient engineering at scale
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to work on mission-critical infrastructure used by national security agencies and global financial institutions
- • Access to industry-leading blockchain data and AI tools to drive innovation in entity resolution and fund tracing
- • Culture that empowers employees to experiment with AI and reinvent workflows, with support for curiosity and self-driven learning
- • Collaborative environment with globally distributed, exceptionally talented engineering teams
- • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging across all levels of the organization
- • Support for professional growth through access to cutting-edge technologies and real-world impact in blockchain security
