📋 Description

• Lead and mentor two high-performing engineering teams focused on clustering infrastructure and exposure data systems, which form the analytical backbone of Chainalysis’s blockchain intelligence platform.
• Drive the technical vision and roadmap for entity resolution systems that link blockchain addresses to real-world entities at scale, ensuring accuracy and scalability across global datasets.
• Re-architect exposure systems to enable real-time tracing of cryptocurrency fund flows across blockchains, including swaps and bridges, to detect illicit activity by nation-state actors and darknet markets.
• Evolve the next-generation clustering platform to adapt to the rapidly changing blockchain landscape, maintaining Chainalysis’s leadership in blockchain data accuracy and coverage.
• Partner with data producers, data scientists, and product stakeholders to deliver a world-class developer and analytical experience across mission-critical systems.
• Establish and champion engineering processes, tooling, and best practices that improve team velocity, system reliability, and organizational-wide technical standards.
• Actively contribute to technical decision-making, including architecture reviews, production incident response, and code reviews, maintaining hands-on technical credibility with engineering teams.
• Champion a culture of quality, correctness, and continuous improvement in systems that directly impact national security agencies and global financial institutions.
• Lead the adoption of AI-driven workflows across both teams, integrating AI agents that reason, investigate, and act to automate entity resolution and data labeling pipelines.
• Optimize data pipelines for cost efficiency, scalability, and performance while maintaining strict requirements for data correctness and system reliability.
• Manage multiple complex problem domains simultaneously, balancing strategic planning with hands-on technical contributions to unblock teams and elevate outcomes.
• Foster a collaborative leadership style grounded in technical depth, where teams trust your judgment because of your proven experience in distributed systems and large-scale data engineering.
• Own the end-to-end delivery of systems that power Chainalysis’s core products, ensuring they meet the highest standards for integrity, speed, and resilience in a high-stakes regulatory environment.
• Stay current with emerging blockchain protocols and on-chain data patterns, leveraging curiosity and self-driven learning to maintain technical edge in a fast-evolving domain.

🎯 Requirements

• Strong hands-on software and data engineering skills, including code review, design documentation, production debugging, and architectural decision-making.
• Deep experience with large-scale data processing and distributed systems such as Spark, Flink, Databricks, or Airflow, with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs.
• Proven track record of leading multiple high-performing engineering teams while remaining technically engaged and capable of unblocking teams.
• Experience driving teams toward an AI-first mindset, integrating AI agents into core workflows to automate complex data tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage across multiple technical domains, switching between strategic planning and hands-on technical work.
• Strong focus on system reliability, data correctness, and cost-conscious engineering at scale.
