📋 Description

• Senior ML-Engineer role at FundraiseUp Inc., a leading fundraising platform trusted by global nonprofits like UNICEF and the American Heart Association, where you will drive impact by building machine learning solutions that optimize donation flows, improve conversion rates, and support intelligent features across product teams.
• You will join a distributed, high-impact product development team of 150+ engineers spanning Spain, Serbia, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Cyprus, Georgia, and Armenia, working in a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment with bi-weekly engineering meetups and a strong engineering culture focused on excellence and innovation.
• Day to day, you will develop and deploy ML solutions across business areas using tabular data for uplift models and recommender systems, including e-commerce mechanics, while selecting the most appropriate ML or LLM approaches for each task.
• You will build end-to-end ML pipelines encompassing data preparation, model training, API development, and production monitoring, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business goals.
• You will design and implement LLM-powered features such as classifiers, content generators, AI assistants, and chatbots, managing the full lifecycle from golden dataset creation and prompt engineering to fine-tuning and response evaluation.
• You will work closely with product teams in the US, communicating technical insights in English when needed, while contributing to a Russian-speaking team that values clarity, ownership, and hypothesis-driven experimentation.
• You will apply strong engineering practices in Python (using uv, ruff, FastAPI, Pydantic), leverage tools like CatBoost, CausalML, ClickHouse, MongoDB, MLflow, and Airflow, and uphold standards in code quality, design patterns, and CI/CD workflows.
• You will connect ML metrics (ROC-AUC, F1, RMSE) to business outcomes like conversion rate and LTV, ensuring your work delivers measurable impact on fundraising performance for nonprofit clients.
• You will enjoy autonomy in problem-solving, choosing the right tech stack or advocating for non-ML solutions when appropriate, and delivering production-ready systems that serve as an internal center of excellence for 10+ product teams.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in applied ML and LLMs, grow as a product-oriented engineer, and gain experience shaping AI-driven features that scale across global nonprofit fundraising workflows.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience in machine learning or data science solving real product problems
• Strong expertise in classical ML algorithms (especially gradient boosting) and modern NLP/LLM approaches, with solid grounding in mathematical statistics
• Proficiency in Python with a product-oriented mindset, including clean code, design patterns, and engineering best practices
• Advanced SQL skills and experience building complex datasets in ClickHouse and MongoDB
• Hands-on experience with MLOps tools such as MLflow and Airflow, and understanding of production workflows involving Docker, Git, and CI/CD
• Ability to break down problems, select appropriate technologies (or justify non-ML solutions), and deliver autonomously to production
