đź“‹ Description

  • • Torc Robotics is at the forefront of autonomous vehicle technology, dedicated to transforming how the world moves freight. As a key player in the autonomous driving landscape since 2007 and now a proud member of the Daimler family, we are singularly focused on developing cutting-edge software for automated trucks. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team, specializing in ML Ops Frameworks. This role is crucial for enabling our machine learning developers to build the most advanced autonomous vehicle solutions at an unprecedented scale.
  • • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in building, maintaining, and continuously improving our robust Torc ML frameworks. This includes developing and enhancing the tools that support the entire machine learning lifecycle, from initial ideation and data preparation through to model training, rigorous validation, and efficient deployment. Your expertise will directly impact our ability to iterate rapidly and deploy high-performing models that power our autonomous trucks.
  • • You will be responsible for architecting and implementing scalable and reliable ML infrastructure. This involves working with distributed training systems, managing large datasets, and ensuring the smooth integration of ML models into our production environment. A significant part of your work will focus on streamlining the ML experimentation process, allowing our developers to efficiently explore new ideas, compare model performance, and select the most optimal models for deployment.
  • • We operate within an AWS ecosystem, leveraging powerful tools like Lightning and Ray for our distributed ML workloads. Your experience with these or similar technologies will be invaluable. You will contribute to the development of best practices for MLOps, including CI/CD pipelines for ML, model versioning, monitoring, and automated retraining strategies. The goal is to create a seamless and efficient workflow that accelerates the development and deployment of machine learning models.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of autonomous freight. You will collaborate closely with a talented team of engineers, researchers, and product managers, all driven by a shared vision of creating safer and more efficient transportation. Your contributions will directly influence the capabilities and performance of our autonomous driving software, making a tangible impact on the industry.
  • • Key responsibilities will include designing and implementing robust ML pipelines for data ingestion, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation. You will develop tools and services to automate the deployment and management of ML models in production, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of a comprehensive model registry and versioning system, enabling effective tracking and management of model experiments and deployments.
  • • You will also play a key role in establishing and enforcing MLOps best practices across the organization. This includes setting up monitoring systems to track model performance in production, identifying drift, and triggering retraining or redeployment as needed. Your work will involve optimizing ML workflows for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, ensuring that our ML infrastructure can support the growing demands of our autonomous vehicle development.
  • • Collaboration is central to this role. You will work with ML scientists and engineers to understand their needs and translate them into robust framework solutions. You will also engage with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of ML models into the broader vehicle software stack. The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential.
  • • This is an opportunity to join a pioneering company that is not only at the cutting edge of technology but also deeply committed to its people. We foster a collaborative, energetic, and team-focused culture where innovation thrives. If you are passionate about machine learning, MLOps, and the transformative potential of autonomous vehicles, this role offers a challenging and rewarding career path.
  • • You will be empowered to take ownership of critical components of our ML platform, driving innovation and continuous improvement. Your work will directly contribute to the safety and efficiency of autonomous trucks, helping to shape the future of logistics and transportation. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, results-oriented, and eager to make a significant impact in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • • Ultimately, your success in this role will be measured by the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of the ML frameworks you help build and maintain, and the speed at which our ML teams can develop and deploy cutting-edge autonomous driving capabilities. You will be a key enabler of Torc's mission to revolutionize freight transportation through autonomous technology.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Proven experience as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer or in a similar role with a strong focus on MLOps.
  • • Expertise in building, deploying, and managing machine learning models and infrastructure, preferably in a cloud environment (AWS experience is a strong plus).
  • • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in ML, such as Python, and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • • Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Ray, Spark) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • • Strong understanding of the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data management, feature engineering, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary range: $160,800 - $212,300 CAD (for Canada-based roles).
  • • Comprehensive corporate bonus and stock option plan.
  • • Full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
  • • Opportunities for professional development and career growth within a pioneering company.
  • • Collaborative, energetic, and team-focused work environment.
  • • Potential for sign-on payments and relocation assistance depending on the position.
