Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join Torcrobotics as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, specializing in Unstructured Environments, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of robotics. This is an exceptional opportunity to leverage your expertise in cutting-edge ML techniques to solve complex, real-world challenges in dynamic and unpredictable settings. You will be at the forefront of innovation, developing and deploying sophisticated AI models that enable robots to perceive, understand, and interact with the world around them with unprecedented autonomy and intelligence.
- • As a Senior ML Engineer, you will be instrumental in the entire ML lifecycle, from conceptualization and data acquisition to model training, validation, and deployment. Your work will directly impact the capabilities of our robotic systems, enhancing their ability to navigate, manipulate objects, and perform tasks in environments that are not pre-defined or controlled, such as construction sites, disaster zones, or complex industrial facilities.
- • You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing machine learning algorithms and frameworks tailored for unstructured environments. This includes, but is not limited to, developing robust perception systems using computer vision and sensor fusion, creating advanced navigation and path planning algorithms, and building sophisticated decision-making models for autonomous operation.
- • A significant part of your role will involve working with large and diverse datasets, including sensor data (LiDAR, cameras, IMUs), point clouds, and potentially other modalities. You will be adept at data preprocessing, feature engineering, and developing strategies for handling noisy, incomplete, or ambiguous data, which are hallmarks of real-world unstructured environments.
- • You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of roboticists, software engineers, hardware specialists, and domain experts. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and ensures that our ML solutions are practical, effective, and seamlessly integrated into our robotic platforms.
- • You will lead the research and development of novel ML approaches to address specific challenges in unstructured environments, such as robust object detection and tracking in cluttered scenes, semantic scene understanding, human-robot interaction in dynamic settings, and reinforcement learning for complex manipulation tasks.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to evaluating the performance of ML models, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing optimizations for efficiency, accuracy, and real-time performance on embedded robotic systems.
- • You will contribute to the architectural design of our ML infrastructure, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reproducibility of our ML workflows. This includes selecting appropriate tools, libraries, and platforms for development and deployment.
- • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and AI is crucial. You will be encouraged to share your knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the technical vision of the ML team at Torcrobotics.
- • This role demands a proactive and problem-solving mindset. You will tackle ambiguous problems, define research directions, and drive projects from inception to successful deployment, making a tangible impact on the capabilities and success of Torcrobotics' robotic solutions.
- • You will be expected to prototype, test, and validate your ML models in simulation and on physical robotic platforms, bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical application.
- • The Senior ML Engineer will also be involved in defining best practices for ML development, code quality, and documentation within the team, ensuring a high standard of engineering excellence.
- • You will have the opportunity to present your work internally and potentially at external conferences, contributing to the broader scientific and engineering community.
- • Torcrobotics is committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement, and this role offers ample opportunities for professional growth and development in a rapidly evolving field.
- • Ultimately, you will be a key contributor to building intelligent robots that can operate safely and effectively in the most challenging and unpredictable environments, pushing the boundaries of what is currently possible in robotics and AI.
🎯 Requirements
- • PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related quantitative field, with a strong publication record or equivalent practical experience.
- • Proven experience (5+ years) in developing and deploying machine learning models, particularly in areas relevant to robotics, such as computer vision, sensor fusion, reinforcement learning, or natural language processing.
- • Deep understanding of ML fundamentals, including various supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning techniques, and their practical applications.
- • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
- • Experience with robotics software frameworks (e.g., ROS) and simulation environments (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac Sim).
- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex, ill-defined problems in unstructured environments.
- • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • Generous paid time off and holidays.
- • Opportunities for professional development, including conferences and training.
- • Remote work flexibility.
- • Collaborative and energetic team-focused culture.
