• • As a Senior Platform Engineer at YAZIO GmbH, you will be instrumental in building and operating the foundational infrastructure that empowers our product teams to innovate rapidly, securely, and reliably. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of nutrition technology by providing the robust, scalable, and efficient platform upon which our award-winning nutrition app is built and continuously improved.
• • You will join a highly skilled, senior-level team where you will assume significant ownership of production-critical infrastructure across the entire engineering organization. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the stability and performance of our core systems, ensuring that our backend and data engineering colleagues can focus on delivering exceptional product features without being hindered by infrastructure complexities.
• • A core aspect of your mission will involve the operation and continuous evolution of our Kubernetes landscape. This includes managing our Amazon EKS clusters and our on-premise Kubernetes environment facilitated by Rancher. You will be responsible for ensuring these environments are performant, secure, and scalable, adapting them to meet the growing demands of our user base and product roadmap.
• • You will also play a key role in maintaining and modernizing our self-hosted relational databases, specifically MariaDB and PostgreSQL. This involves ensuring their high availability, optimizing their performance, and implementing best practices for data management and resilience.
• • A significant part of your contribution will be in designing and implementing internal platform abstractions. These abstractions are designed to reduce the cognitive load on our Backend and Data teams, providing them with simplified interfaces and reliable foundations that allow them to concentrate on their core product development tasks.
• • You will be a champion for automation, identifying and automating manual operational processes to enhance efficiency, reduce the potential for human error, and improve deployment consistency across all our services.
• • Enhancing our CI/CD architecture and release safety will be another critical responsibility. You will work on optimizing our build, test, and deployment pipelines to ensure faster, more reliable, and safer releases of new features and updates.
• • You will be on the front lines of incident response, investigating and resolving infrastructure-level production incidents with a focus on rapid resolution and thorough post-mortem analysis to prevent recurrence.
• • Strengthening our observability and monitoring capabilities across all services is paramount. This involves implementing and refining tools and practices to gain deeper insights into system behavior, performance, and potential issues, enabling proactive problem-solving.
• • You will actively contribute to the long-term strategic evolution of our cloud-native platform. This includes researching new technologies, evaluating architectural decisions, and planning for future scalability and resilience.
• • This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, bridging the gap between cloud-based AWS infrastructure and our self-hosted systems. Your ability to understand and troubleshoot across these different layers will be essential.
• • You will collaborate closely with various engineering teams, acting as a trusted advisor and enabler for their infrastructure needs. Clear communication of technical concepts and trade-offs will be key to fostering strong cross-functional relationships.
