📋 Description

• Architect and deliver high-performance Java connectors that bridge Actian Data Intelligence Platform with hundreds of data sources—ranging from legacy RDBMS to modern lake-houses and streaming platforms—ensuring millisecond-level metadata synchronization and zero-downtime upgrades.
• Own the full connector lifecycle: from parsing complex vendor APIs and reverse-engineering undocumented protocols, to designing resilient retry, caching, and incremental-load strategies that scale to petabyte-scale estates.
• Collaborate daily with a cross-functional, international squad (Nantes, Paris, Austin, Bengaluru) in two-week sprints; refine user stories in Jira, review pull-requests in GitHub, and demo new capabilities to product managers and field engineers.
• Write clean, idiomatic Java 17+ code and progressively adopt Scala where functional paradigms improve testability and performance; enforce 80%+ unit-test coverage, mutation testing, and containerized integration tests in Docker & Kubernetes.
• Build self-healing connectors that gracefully degrade when external systems throttle or change schema, emitting structured logs, metrics, and OpenTelemetry traces that feed our observability stack and reduce MTTR to minutes.
• Contribute to an internal SDK that standardizes authentication, pagination, rate-limiting, and secret management across all connectors, cutting onboarding time for new data sources from weeks to days.
• Document every design decision in English (Confluence & code) so that support engineers and customers can troubleshoot without escalating; occasionally author French cheat-sheets for local teams.
• Champion continuous improvement: run blameless post-mortems, propose architectural spikes, and mentor junior developers through pair-programming and brown-bag sessions.
• Stay ahead of the data-ecosystem curve—evaluate new connectors for Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Kafka, and GraphQL endpoints—and turn prototypes into production-grade features that expand Actian’s addressable market.
• Influence roadmap priorities by translating customer pain-points into technical epics, estimating effort using complexity poker, and presenting trade-offs to VP Engineering and stakeholders.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Java development, including concurrency, generics, and the Spring ecosystem
• Hands-on experience with at least one JVM language beyond Java (Scala, Kotlin, or Clojure) and willingness to deepen functional-programming skills
• Proven exposure to the modern data stack: SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, REST and JDBC/ODBC drivers
• Proficiency with Git workflows, Docker containerization, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
• Strong written and verbal communication in English; ability to explain complex technical topics to non-engineers
• Nice-to-have: conversational French, prior connector or integration-platform development, familiarity with Apache Spark or Kafka
