• We are seeking a highly strategic and experienced Senior Procurement Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping Monzo's critical third-party technology and engineering decisions.

• Your responsibilities will include shaping category strategies, influencing major investment decisions, and ensuring Monzo's technology ecosystem is robust, scalable, and optimally designed to serve our customers both now and in the future.
• You will own and deliver strategic procurement and category strategies specifically across Technology and Engineering spend, ensuring alignment with Monzo’s overarching long-term strategic priorities and business objectives.
• A core aspect of your role will be to partner closely with senior Technology and Engineering leaders, engaging early in decision-making processes to enhance commercial outcomes and elevate the quality of strategic choices.
• You will lead complex sourcing initiatives, sophisticated negotiations, and intricate contracting activities for high-value, multi-year technology agreements, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
• You will guide stakeholders in understanding and navigating critical trade-offs, balancing factors such as cost optimisation, operational resilience, speed to market, scalability requirements, and the potential for vendor lock-in.
• Exercising strong commercial judgement will be paramount; you will need to discern when to optimise for long-term value and when to prioritise agility and flexibility within Monzo's dynamic fintech environment.
• You will foster collaborative working relationships with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Security, and Finance teams to ensure commercial decisions are made with appropriate risk management, without introducing undue operational friction or delays.
• You will serve as a role model for modern, strategic procurement practices, actively contributing to the continuous evolution and enhancement of the procurement function within Monzo.
• This role demands deep experience across a broad spectrum of core Technology and Engineering categories, including but not limited to software and SaaS solutions, cloud platforms and infrastructure, data analytics and developer tooling, and specialised technology services.
• A proven track record of building credible partnerships with Engineering, Product, and Technology leaders is essential, demonstrating your ability to influence decisions through insightful analysis, sound judgement, and established trust, rather than relying on rigid process enforcement.
• You must be comfortable operating effectively within complex, rapidly evolving technology environments where the inherent trade-offs between speed, cost, risk mitigation, and long-term flexibility are integral to daily decision-making.
• You will possess the ability to critically assess and clearly articulate the commercial, architectural, and broader ecosystem implications of technology purchasing decisions, looking beyond the immediate outcomes of individual deals.
• Hands-on experience in negotiating and managing a variety of software, SaaS, and technology service agreements is required, including a thorough understanding of diverse licensing models, complex pricing structures, and effective renewal strategies.
• You will be adept at balancing critical considerations such as risk, security, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance with essential commercial objectives and delivery timelines, working in close partnership with teams like Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Information Security (InfoSec), Data, and Legal.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep experience across core Technology and Engineering categories (e.g., software, SaaS, cloud platforms, infrastructure, data, developer tooling, specialist technology services).
• Proven track record of partnering credibly with Engineering, Product, and Technology leaders, influencing decisions through insight and judgement.
• Experience operating in complex, fast-moving technology environments with an understanding of trade-offs between speed, cost, risk, and flexibility.
• Ability to assess and articulate commercial, architectural, and ecosystem implications of technology purchasing decisions.
• Hands-on experience negotiating and managing software, SaaS, and technology service agreements.
• Ability to balance risk, security, resilience, and regulatory considerations with commercial needs, working in partnership with relevant teams.

• Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 per annum.
• Location Flexibility: Based in our London or Cardiff office, or fully remote within the UK (with occasional London travel).
