- • Senior Product Design Engineer at Eight Sleep, Inc. – a mission-driven role where you will architect and develop cutting-edge electromechanical systems that transform sleep into a personalized, data-driven recovery experience, directly contributing to the company’s vision of fueling human potential through optimal sleep.
- • What the person will do day to day:
- • Architect and design complex electromechanical systems integrating plastic, metal, and soft goods components with novel sensors and actuators for next-generation sleep fitness products.
- • Drive product designs through the full development lifecycle, from concept and brainstorming phases to CAD modeling, prototyping, rigorous testing, and successful ramp-up into high-volume manufacturing in Asia.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, reliability, and manufacturing engineering teams to solve intricate technical challenges and ensure seamless system integration.
- • Perform and lead thermal, fluid, and structural analyses using simulation tools to validate designs against performance, durability, and safety requirements.
- • Partner with industrial design, marketing, product, and leadership teams to influence product direction, ensuring technical feasibility aligns with user experience and business goals.
- • Apply DFM/DFA principles, conduct tolerance analysis, and implement GD&T to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost-effectiveness at scale.

🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of experience in consumer product design with strong knowledge of injection molding, sheet metal forming, and sensor/electronics integration.
- • Proven experience shipping high-volume consumer products, including hands-on involvement in manufacturing support and coordination with suppliers in Asia.
- • Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using tools such as SolidWorks, NX, or Creo for detailed mechanical design and assembly.
- • Solid understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA), tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- • Experience with root cause analysis, design of experiments (DOEs), and quality measurement techniques to drive product reliability and continuous improvement.
- • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent academic background.
- • Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed for factory visits, production ramp-ups, and supplier collaboration.
