Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design and ship end-to-end notification experiences that drive user retention and engagement, including UX flows, interaction patterns, and the underlying rules governing relevance, timing, and frequency.
- • Own the real-time safety UX system across notifications, feeds, and key in-app surfaces, ensuring users feel informed without being overwhelmed by excessive or irrelevant alerts.
- • Prototype interactions, flows, and ranking behaviors using code (web/mobile) to validate concepts, then use these functional prototypes to align Product, Engineering, Data, and Operations teams in-person.
- • Integrate AI as a first-class tool throughout the design and engineering workflow, leveraging it for concept exploration, research synthesis, design variations, microcopy generation, motion studies, sound design, and front-end scaffolding.
- • Create persona- and segment-aware notification and feed experiences that adapt dynamically based on user behavior, neighborhood context, and intent to deliver personalized, context-sensitive alerts.
- • Collaborate with Product and Data teams to define retention and engagement hypotheses, design and execute A/B tests, and translate quantitative insights into systemic product changes—not just superficial UI adjustments.
- • Partner with Operations and Trust & Safety to ensure UX, workflows, and internal tools support fast, responsible decisions about alerting criteria, user targeting, and content moderation.
- • Design and build internal utilities, dashboards, and AI-powered workflows that improve team velocity, creativity, and decision-making across the NYC-based product organization.
- • Think in systems: prioritize states, feedback loops, edge cases, and scalability over static visual polish, with a focus on how components behave across dynamic, real-time data environments.
- • Ship functional, production-like prototypes that behave like the final product, demonstrating strong fluency in front-end frameworks such as React, React Native, or SwiftUI, regardless of dogmatic tool preferences.
- • Balance user value, safety, and business outcomes with clear articulation of design rationale, especially in high-stakes, real-time contexts where speed, virality, and user well-being require careful ethical tradeoffs.
- • Operate in a fully in-person environment in New York City, preferring to demonstrate ideas through shipped prototypes and live experimentation rather than deck-based presentations.
- • Maintain a strong portfolio showcasing shipped consumer products with real-time, feed, or notification-heavy experiences, including at least one system-level project that reflects deep product thinking.
- • Use AI tools not just to accelerate design or engineering tasks, but to explore broader solution spaces, compress iteration cycles, and elevate the quality of final product decisions.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in a role blending product design and front-end engineering (e.g., design engineer, product-minded front-end engineer, product designer who codes).
- • Strong portfolio of shipped consumer product work with real-time, feed, or notification-heavy experiences.
- • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate design and/or engineering workflows, with concrete examples provided in portfolio or application.
- • Fluency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma) and front-end technologies (e.g., React/React Native, SwiftUI, or similar).
- • Experience collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to define problems, run experiments, and measure outcomes.
- • Comfort working on real-time, safety-sensitive products with an understanding of ethical tradeoffs between speed, virality, and user well-being.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Base salary of $155,000–$215,000 per year plus equity.
- • Fully employer-sponsored medical plan option.
- • Dental and vision coverage with small employee contribution.
- • Unlimited PTO.
- • Up to 14 weeks paid parental leave for all parents.
- • Monthly tech stipend.
- • Free mental health support.
- • Hybrid work environment with catered lunches at NYC HQ.
