As part of our expansive Design team, comprising over 90 talented designers, researchers, and brand experts, you will contribute to our overarching mission: to make money work for everyone. The Product Design discipline, which you will help lead, forms a significant portion of our creative force, working in close-knit squads alongside dedicated research, product, and engineering professionals to tackle complex customer challenges at scale.

• • In this critical leadership position, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and growing a team of highly skilled product designers. Your role will be hands-on, actively supporting your team through the entire product development lifecycle – from initial discovery and collaborative workshops to intricate problem-solving sessions. Simultaneously, you will be tasked with establishing the strategic direction and overarching vision for your designated product area, ensuring alignment with Monzo's broader goals and mission.
• • A key aspect of your role will involve fostering a high-performing design team. This includes investing deeply in their professional growth, ensuring their well-being, and championing their long-term success. You will be the guardian of an exceptional quality bar across all design output, providing clear, constructive feedback and coaching to empower designers and teams to consistently deliver best-in-class user experiences.
• • You will set the strategic direction and design vision for your product domain, inspiring your teams to think ambitiously and creatively. This will involve close collaboration with your counterparts in Product and Engineering, as well as the General Manager of your product area, to define priorities, shape product roadmaps, and translate strategic objectives into tangible, impactful execution.
• • Your leadership will extend to actively participating in solving complex product and design challenges. You will be expected to roll up your sleeves, particularly during the early stages of discovery or when teams require support to overcome obstacles and unblock progress. This hands-on approach ensures that strategic vision is grounded in practical application and creative problem-solving.
