Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Product Designer at Tailscale, you will shape the experience for IT administrators, DevOps engineers, and security professionals who rely on Tailscale to securely interconnect devices and manage organizational networks. Your work ensures that complex networking tasks feel intuitive, reliable, and aligned with the product’s technical excellence.
- • Day to day, you will own the end-to-end design process for ambiguous and evolving problems—from discovery and framing through delivery and QA—collaborating closely with product managers and engineers to turn fuzzy challenges into shippable solutions across GUI and CLI surfaces, while staying engaged through implementation and using feedback continuously to refine your work.
- • You’ll join a small, fast-growing design team at a fully distributed company founded in 2019 and backed by top-tier investors, where technical curiosity, autonomy, and initiative are valued over rigid processes, and where you’ll tackle everything from multi-month projects to urgent unblocking tasks with equal care.
- • In this role, you’ll deepen your expertise in designing for technical B2B audiences, strengthen your ability to lead discovery without waiting for perfect briefs, and grow your impact by influencing product decisions that extend beyond immediate features—all while working asynchronously and using AI tools thoughtfully to enhance your design workflow.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of product design experience with a portfolio showing end-to-end ownership of complex work
- • Experience with technically sophisticated B2B or infrastructure products, comfortable diving deep into domains like networking or DevOps
- • A clear, direct writing style capable of explaining design decisions to engineers and stakeholders without duplication
- • Ability to manage your own workload, shift priorities fluidly, and work effectively in distributed, async environments
- • A strong point of view on user needs and product quality, with the confidence to act on it
- • Comfort collaborating closely with engineers and PMs who prioritize how things actually work under the hood
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive total compensation including base salary ($146,000–$183,000 USD), equity, and variable commission for quota-based roles
- • Comprehensive group benefits with no waiting period (health, vision, dental, and more for you and family)
- • $1,500 USD annual professional development stipend, plus mentorship, coaching, and internal promotion opportunities
- • Remote-first culture with flexibility to work from anywhere, plus access to corporate co-working spaces (e.g., WeWork)
- • Annual company retreat, team off-sites, and opportunities for in-person collaboration across Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
- • Build-your-own home office setup: company-owned laptop (Mac or PC), monthly internet reimbursement, and $1,000 USD to customize your workstation
