Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • LoanCrate is on a mission to revolutionize the mortgage industry by making home-buying simpler and more affordable for both lenders and borrowers. We recognize that the current software landscape for mortgage lenders is largely outdated, built on systems from two decades ago that are slow, unstable, and fail to deliver significant efficiency gains. The human cost to originate a loan using these legacy systems remains prohibitively high, often exceeding $11,000. Our vision is to transform this by building AI-native tooling designed to automate complex mortgage workflows. Our ultimate aspiration is to achieve fully automated loan origination, a feat that holds the potential to save lenders over $16 billion in annual operating expenses.
- • Since our inception in 2020, our dedicated remote team has empowered our customers to facilitate over $85 billion in new home loans. We foster a culture that values deep collaboration, transparent and open communication—embracing both successes and challenges to facilitate rapid learning from our decisions. Crucially, we believe in having fun while we build. If you are someone who enjoys diving deep and tackling complex problems with enthusiasm, you will find a welcoming and stimulating environment here.
- • The opportunity at LoanCrate is substantial. Our ambitions are grand, and there is a significant amount of product development ahead. We are actively seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our team. This role is pivotal in taking some of the most intricate and high-stakes workflows within financial services and transforming them into experiences that are not only intuitive and trustworthy but also genuinely enjoyable for users. You will be an integral part of our Product and Engineering teams, taking full ownership of the design process for a core product area from conception to launch.
- • This is not a role focused solely on visual execution or "pixel-pushing." Instead, you will be deeply involved in the entire product lifecycle. This includes participating in discovery calls with customers to understand their needs and challenges firsthand, actively shaping the product's strategic direction in close partnership with Product Management, and collaborating intimately with Engineering to ensure that the final shipped product accurately reflects the designed experience. We view great design as a fundamental, first-class function within our organization. Our customers rely on our software to manage their critical business operations, and the quality and trustworthiness of the user experience directly influence their confidence in our product.
- • You will demonstrate a profound commitment to design craft, extending beyond mere visual polish to encompass the intricate details of interaction design and the strategic structuring of information architecture that collectively make complex systems feel intuitive and manageable. You will think in terms of cohesive systems, pay meticulous attention to micro-interactions, and bring a well-defined, strong point of view to every aspect of the user interface you own. As we are building an AI-native product and leverage AI extensively in our internal workflows, individuals excited by this technological frontier will undoubtedly thrive in this role.
- • Your responsibilities will include owning the end-to-end design process for a core product area, from initial discovery and user research through to the creation of high-fidelity mockups in Figma. You will be instrumental in leading customer discovery sessions, conducting usability tests, thoroughly investigating user workflows, and translating these insights into concrete design decisions that will shape the future of our product.
- • You will be tasked with designing intuitive UX patterns for complex interaction paradigms, including multi-step automation workflows, interfaces for AI-generated content, data-dense tables, and critical decision-making surfaces. A significant focus will be on designing for AI-native experiences, addressing unique challenges such as uncertainty states, affordances for user intervention, handling streaming content, and implementing graceful error handling mechanisms.
- • You will play a key role in building and maintaining our Figma component libraries and design system assets, ensuring Engineering has access to a coherent, scalable, and consistent visual language. Furthermore, you will be a strong advocate for accessibility, ensuring WCAG compliance, appropriate color contrast, keyboard navigability, and inclusive design practices are integrated into all designs.
- • Pragmatism will be essential as you learn to scope design work effectively, making intelligent trade-offs between design fidelity and delivery velocity without compromising the correctness or usability of the final product. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on a product that is fundamentally changing a major industry.
