• • Tolken is at a pivotal moment of accelerated growth, and we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Product Designer to join us on a contract basis. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact during our initial 3-month term, with strong potential for extension, as we build out our comprehensive payments suite. You will be instrumental in shaping and delivering the foundational UI/UX elements for both our merchant partner-facing experiences and our internal operational dashboards.
• • In this hands-on, high-impact role, you will be entrusted with the complete ownership of the design and delivery lifecycle for our merchant and partner-facing products, as well as critical internal dashboards. The emphasis will be on achieving fast, high-quality output that directly contributes to our strategic objectives. You will be designing intricate, data-driven workflows essential for merchant onboarding, payment processing, detailed reporting functionalities, and robust operational tooling within the complex landscape of fintech.
• • A key deliverable will be the establishment and delivery of Tolken's inaugural design system. This includes defining interaction patterns, establishing a cohesive visual language, and creating a reusable component library. This initiative is crucial for ensuring consistency across all our products, enabling scalability, and fostering a more efficient design and development process moving forward.
• • You will be expected to lead and execute user research initiatives and usability testing sessions. This will involve actively gathering feedback, validating design decisions, and iteratively refining solutions to ensure they meet the needs of our users and align with business goals. Your insights will be critical in shaping the direction of our product development.
• • Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will partner closely with our founders, product managers, and engineering teams to meticulously define key requirements and deliverables. Your input will be vital in shaping Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and high-impact features, particularly within the dynamic and fast-paced startup environment. You will champion a user-centric design process, employing lightweight yet practical methodologies such as design critiques, collaborative design reviews, and rapid prototyping to ensure agility and effectiveness.
• • Throughout your engagement, you will be responsible for delivering several key project outcomes. This includes launching the initial versions of our merchant partner-facing workflows and the core internal dashboards within the defined contract period. Furthermore, you will deliver a well-documented, reusable design system and component library that can be leveraged by the wider team. You will also provide actionable insights derived from user feedback, with recommendations that are actively implemented in shipped designs. Finally, you will ensure clear handoffs and comprehensive documentation for engineering teams, facilitating a smooth transition from design to development.
• • This role demands an individual who is action-and-output oriented, ready to contribute polished UI/UX designs and build essential foundations at speed. You should be pragmatic and autonomous, capable of identifying priorities and gaps, and then proposing and executing solutions with minimal direction. A strong user- and outcome-focused mindset is essential; you must genuinely care about usability, clarity, and the real-world adoption of the products you design. Your ability to operate asynchronously with a distributed startup team, provide regular progress updates, and manage your own work cadence effectively for a short-term engagement will be paramount to your success.
