Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As Kernel Medical Devices, Inc.'s first dedicated Product Designer, you will play a pivotal and foundational role in shaping the user experience of our core product. This is a unique opportunity to own the end-to-end design process for a rapidly evolving AI-powered data platform that is revolutionizing the way enterprise RevOps teams operate. Your primary mission will be to distill complex functionalities into an intuitive and effortless user experience, ensuring our powerful product feels accessible, clear, and confidence-inspiring for our users.
  • • You will be instrumental in defining and refining the user interface and interaction design for our core product, focusing on creating clearer workflows, fostering sharper mental models for users, minimizing unnecessary decisions, and ultimately empowering users with greater confidence in their data-driven operations. This role demands a strategic thinker who can not only execute visually but also deeply understand user needs and translate them into impactful design solutions.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will involve leading ground-truth discovery initiatives. This means actively engaging with users through interviews, synthesizing feedback rapidly, and translating these insights into tangible, shipped product changes. You will be the champion for user-centricity, ensuring that design decisions are always informed by real-world user challenges and opportunities.
  • • You will be expected to prototype quickly and effectively, leveraging a variety of tools such as Figma, v0, and Figma Make, or any other method that allows for the rapid creation of high-signal prototypes. The ability to iterate swiftly based on feedback and testing is crucial for success in this fast-paced environment.
  • • Collaboration will be key. You will work in tight loops with our engineering and product management teams, ensuring a high-quality user experience is consistently delivered in production. Your ability to communicate design intent clearly and work hand-in-hand with engineers to bring designs to life will be paramount. This collaborative approach will enable us to iterate rapidly and continuously improve the product.
  • • Beyond direct product design, you will contribute to building the foundational design infrastructure for Kernel. This includes establishing design principles, developing reusable patterns, and creating a lightweight design system. The goal is to create a scalable and consistent design language without impeding the team's velocity. This foundational work will set the stage for future design efforts and ensure coherence across the product.
  • • A small portion of your time (approximately 5%) may be dedicated to assisting with decks and narrative development when these efforts directly support business objectives. This cross-functional contribution highlights the integrated nature of this role and the value placed on design thinking across the company.
  • • We are seeking an individual who has a proven track record of shipping meaningful product work and can articulate the rationale behind their design decisions and the resulting outcomes. You should possess a strong ability to simplify complexity, going beyond mere UI polishing to address fundamental user challenges. The capacity to independently run discovery processes and uncover user truths is essential.
  • • You must be a fast mover, communicate with exceptional clarity, and collaborate seamlessly with engineers. A keen eye for detail, coupled with strong execution skills from prototype to production, is highly valued. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-autonomy, high-trust environment and is eager to contribute to a small team that is shipping at an impressive pace, directly impacting the trajectory of an AI-native company.
  • • Please note, this role may not be suitable if you require absolute clarity before starting, prefer long development cycles with infrequent major reveals, or are seeking a fully remote position, as we believe in the benefits of in-person collaboration for faster iteration and problem-solving.
