Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Senior Product Designer focused on Design Systems at Sentry, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundational elements that power consistent, accessible, and efficient product experiences across the company’s software portfolio. Your work directly impacts how quickly and reliably teams can ship features by ensuring design language is unified, well-documented, and engineering-friendly.
- • You will own and evolve Scraps, Sentry’s design system, by maintaining component libraries, variables, and styles in Figma, ensuring they remain accurate, well-documented, and synchronized with implemented code, while driving adoption and consistency across product teams.
- • Day to day, you will partner closely with frontend engineers and product designers to spec new components, refine existing ones, and audit the product for pattern inconsistencies, translating design intent into precise specifications that account for React, CSS, and DOM constraints.
- • You will create and maintain comprehensive documentation, usage guidelines, and Storybook stories that empower designers and engineers to use the system correctly, while building shared tools like lint rules, templates, and contribution workflows that scale consistency without slowing delivery.
- • You will advocate for the design system by fielding questions, reviewing component usage across teams, and coaching designers on best practices, helping to turn fragmented patterns into a clean, opinionated, and scalable design language.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in design systems at scale, influence the long-term technical and visual quality of Sentry’s products, and gain hands-on experience bridging design and engineering through component APIs, tokenization, variant structures, and open-source collaboration practices.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience designing complex software products, with proven experience contributing to or owning a design system at a comparable scale
- • Deep fluency with Figma’s design systems tooling, including components, variants, variables, auto layout, shared libraries, and branching workflows
- • Strong visual and interaction design skills with a meticulous eye for spacing, hierarchy, micro-interactions, and accessibility
- • Demonstrated experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers on component implementation, including understanding of props, states, edge cases, and integration with React/CSS/DOM
- • Ability to create and maintain clear design documentation, usage guidelines, and contribution processes that support team adoption and scalability
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $170,000 – $200,000, with actual compensation based on location, experience, skills, and qualifications
- • Eligibility to participate in Sentry’s comprehensive employee benefit plans, including health insurance, paid time off, equity grants, and incentive compensation
- • Opportunity to work in a hybrid model with structured in-office days (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays) at Sentry’s San Francisco hub to foster collaboration while maintaining flexibility
