• • We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Senior Product Designer to lead our Design Systems initiative. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with our frontend platform and foundations team to continuously evolve and enhance our design systems and patterns. You will be instrumental in building and evangelizing best practices across all product teams, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality user experience throughout Zip's product suite. This hybrid role dedicates approximately 80% of your time to building and scaling our design system, with the remaining 20% focused on designing best-in-class experiences for core platform features. You will be an integral part of a close-knit team that thrives on open communication, cross-functional collaboration, and a shared commitment to solving complex product challenges with an unwavering focus on the end-user experience.
• • As a Senior Product Designer specializing in Design Systems, you will significantly contribute to Zip’s overarching vision, helping to reimagine the procurement space through the creation of elegant, modern, and intuitive interfaces. Your primary responsibility will be to grow and mature Zip’s Design System capabilities and toolkits. This involves pioneering new foundational elements, components, practices, and methodologies that will serve as the bedrock for our product development. You will develop and champion a long-term strategic roadmap for the design system, working hand-in-hand with engineering and design teams to ensure seamless and accurate implementation of components.
• • A key aspect of this role is driving requirements gathering sessions with designers and engineers. This collaborative process will foster a deep, well-rounded understanding of diverse product areas, enabling the design of flexible, extensible frameworks, patterns, and components that can adapt to future needs. You will be responsible for setting and maintaining an exceptionally high standard for user interfaces across all Zip products. This includes proactively identifying and cataloging inconsistencies and proposing strategic improvements to ensure visual and functional harmony.
• • To facilitate consistent adoption and implementation, you will develop comprehensive usage guidelines. These guidelines will educate both designers and engineers on the effective utilization of components and patterns within design tools and code. Establishing clear channels for feedback and continuous improvement will be crucial to ensure the consistent implementation of components across multiple product verticals. You will meticulously organize and maintain robust Figma libraries, ensuring they are neat, usable, and up-to-date.
• • Beyond the technical aspects of design systems, you will collaborate closely with other designers to craft and maintain a holistic product vision that spans Zip’s entire suite of products. A significant part of your role will involve evangelizing the critical importance of the Design System across the entire organization. This will be achieved through engaging presentations, active participation in meetings, and leveraging various other forums to communicate the value and impact of a well-maintained design system.
