- • Senior Product Designer responsible for owning the Manage product area at Instrumentl, where $1.1B+ in grant funding is tracked, reported on, and kept compliant for over 5,500 nonprofits.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing end-to-end solutions for complex post-award grant workflows, collaborating with product and engineering leads as a strategic partner, creating intuitive interfaces for budget vs. actuals tracking, program financials, cross-functional workflows, reporting, and compliance reviews, and translating intricate data models and multi-stakeholder needs into user-centered designs.
- • Instrumentl is a remote-first, YC-backed hypergrowth startup helping nonprofits find, win, and manage grants in one platform; the company is cash flow positive, doubling year-over-year, with an NPS of 65+ and Ellis PMF survey of 60+, serving customers from local homeless shelters to institutions like the San Diego Zoo and University of Alaska.
- • The designer will have outsized impact as an individual contributor shaping the future of post-award grant management, gaining deep expertise in high-stakes compliance, financial workflows, and multi-user enterprise design while working closely with leadership to influence product strategy and drive meaningful impact for thousands of grant professionals nationwide.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Product Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end product design, particularly in complex enterprise or SaaS applications
- • Expertise in designing for complex data workflows, multi-stakeholder systems, and high-compliance environments such as finance, accounting, or regulated industries
- • Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers and engineers as a strategic partner in a remote-first environment
- • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and a user-centered design process including research, prototyping, and usability testing
- • Experience designing financial tracking, budgeting, or reporting features, preferably in accounting or grant management contexts
- • Strong communication skills and ability to articulate design decisions to cross-functional teams and stakeholders
