- • As a Senior Product Designer specializing in Student Loans at NerdWallet, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of how millions of Canadians navigate their financial decisions related to higher education.
- • You will take ownership of the end-to-end design process for NerdWallet’s student loan marketplace, encompassing experiences across NerdWallet, CollegeFinance.com, and RefiRate.com, ensuring a cohesive and impactful user journey.
- • Your primary objective will be to transform complex, highly regulated financial products into intuitive, user-centered experiences that foster trust and empower individuals to make informed borrowing decisions.
- • This senior-level role demands a strategic mindset, where you will not only execute design tasks but also drive product direction and uncover new opportunities through a combination of rigorous research, insightful experimentation, and close collaboration with Product Management, Engineering, and Growth teams.
- • You will operate across both strategic and executional levels, contributing to the overall product vision, identifying areas for improvement, and delivering polished, high-impact designs that demonstrably move key business metrics.
- • A significant part of your role will involve leading the design for private student loan and refinance experiences, from the initial discovery phase through to successful launch, with a focus on creating user journeys that enhance engagement, boost conversion rates, and build long-term customer loyalty.
- • You will be a key driver of experimentation, particularly within high-intent marketing funnels such as SEM/SEO landing pages, comparison tools, and application flows, with the goal of uncovering novel growth avenues and optimizing existing performance.
- • Defining and executing robust research strategies will be crucial, enabling you to uncover critical user insights, validate design concepts, and inform product decisions at scale, ensuring that our solutions are grounded in user needs.
- • You will partner closely with Product Managers to translate overarching strategies and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) into well-defined design problems, testable hypotheses, and measurable success metrics, ensuring design efforts are aligned with business goals.
- • A core responsibility will be designing clear, compliant financial workflows, including application processes, disclosure statements, and prequalification tools, striking a delicate balance between regulatory requirements and optimal user experience.
- • You will be expected to identify and shape nascent (0→1) opportunities in ambiguous or undefined spaces, bringing structure, strategic direction, and creative problem-solving to early-stage initiatives.
- • Cross-functional collaboration will be paramount, working closely with Engineering, Content, and SEO teams to ensure that the delivered experiences are not only user-friendly but also technically feasible, accessible to all users, performant, and optimized for search engines.
- • You will influence product and design decisions by articulating a strong, data-backed rationale, leveraging both qualitative and quantitative insights to drive alignment and achieve desired outcomes.
- • Contributing to and actively evolving shared design systems and patterns across multiple NerdWallet properties will be essential for maintaining consistency and efficiency in our design output.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the financial well-being of a significant user base, leveraging design thinking to simplify complex financial decisions and empower individuals on their educational and financial journeys.
