Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Shape the future of construction technology as the Senior Product Designer for our Trades vertical. You will own the end-to-end design of brand-new product areas that help electricians, plumbers, HVAC specialists, and other trade professionals harness AI to slash takeoff time by up to 80 %. Every pixel you craft directly impacts how thousands of estimators interact with blueprints, collaborate with GCs, and win more bids.
- • Lead continuous discovery in uncharted territory. Spend at least 30 % of your time interviewing trade estimators, shadowing their daily workflows, and logging pain points in our research repository. Translate raw field notes into crisp problem statements that steer quarterly OKRs and keep leadership laser-focused on user value.
- • Drive rapid, high-fidelity prototyping from day one. Within two weeks of a new initiative, deliver clickable Figma prototypes that simulate real AI outputs—complete with conversational UI, auto-generated quantities, and trade-specific symbol recognition. Use these prototypes to run moderated usability tests every Friday, iterating nightly so Monday’s build reflects fresh insights.
- • Own interaction design at the deepest level. Produce exhaustive user-flow diagrams, edge-case matrices, and responsive specs that engineers can implement without follow-up questions. Your documentation becomes the single source of truth that prevents rework and keeps sprint velocity above 90 %.
- • Evolve and extend our design system for the trades. Audit existing components, identify gaps for trade-specific symbols (e.g., conduit runs, fixture counts), and ship new tokens, patterns, and accessibility guidelines. Ensure every new screen feels unmistakably Togal while remaining tailor-made for electricians or plumbers.
- • Champion quality through rigorous design QA. Run pixel-perfect reviews in staging, file accessible-contrast tickets, and shepherd each feature across the finish line until it meets WCAG 2.1 AA. Your sign-off is the final stamp that tells users they can trust the product with million-dollar estimates.
- • Facilitate cross-functional rituals that raise the bar. Host weekly design critiques where PMs, engineers, and sales reps dissect prototypes from the user’s point of view. Turn feedback into actionable next steps and document decisions so tribal knowledge never walks out the door.
- • Communicate like a founder. Present design rationale to the executive team using storyboards, data, and live demos that link every interaction to revenue impact. When stakeholders push back, you reframe the conversation around risk mitigation and user delight, securing buy-in without scope creep.
- • Measure what matters. Instrument prototypes with analytics events, track task-success rates, and correlate design changes to time-on-task reductions. Report weekly metrics that prove design’s ROI and guide the next sprint’s hypothesis.
- • Mentor rising designers. Conduct monthly 1:1s with junior teammates, review their Figma files, and share advanced techniques like auto-layout hacks and interactive variables. Your guidance turns good designers into great ones and scales our design culture across time zones.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of end-to-end product design experience, including at least 2 years designing complex B2B SaaS workflows
- • Expert-level proficiency in Figma for both rapid prototyping and detailed spec handoff (auto-layout, variables, interactive components)
- • Proven track record of planning and executing usability studies that directly influenced product roadmap decisions
- • Strong grasp of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and ability to ship inclusive designs without external audits
- • Nice-to-have: domain familiarity with construction, estimating, or trade-specific software
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly off-sites in construction hubs like Austin or Denver
- • Competitive salary plus equity in a fast-growing, AI-driven startup backed by top-tier VCs
- • Annual $2,000 professional-development stipend for courses, conferences, or design tools
- • Flexible PTO policy and company-wide mental-health days every quarter
