• • In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of Camunda's workflow modeling and orchestration builder experiences. Your mission will be to translate our sophisticated orchestration capabilities into intuitive, accessible, and deeply functional tools. This means designing for a diverse user base, from seasoned pro-code developers who require deep control and efficiency, to less-technical users who need a welcoming and straightforward way to build, modify, or create simple automations.
• • You will tackle high-impact problems, focusing on making the creation of production-ready workflows feel seamless and low-friction. This involves improving the end-to-end user journeys across our platform, ensuring that users can progressively model complex processes, test and iterate within context, understand data and variable lineage with clarity, and leverage trustworthy AI assistance as Camunda pioneers the frontier of enterprise agentic automation.
• • As an embedded member of our Product Management and Engineering teams, you will collaborate closely with fellow designers across adjacent product areas. Your strategic input and design execution will directly influence how users interact with our core offerings, enhancing their ability to build, manage, and optimize complex business processes.
• • This role demands a unique blend of strategic thinking, deep UX craft, and a hands-on approach to design. You will be responsible for defining and refining the user experience for our workflow builder, ensuring it meets the needs of both expert users and those new to automation. This includes designing for progressive disclosure of complexity, enabling efficient debugging and monitoring, and ensuring that AI capabilities are integrated in a way that is transparent, controllable, and trustworthy.
• • You will play a key role in defining how users visualize and manage complex data flows and process logic. This involves designing clear representations of variable lineage, enabling users to understand the flow of information through their workflows, and providing tools for effective debugging and troubleshooting. The goal is to empower users to build robust and reliable automations with confidence.
• • A significant aspect of this role involves the design of AI-powered features. You will be at the forefront of designing how users interact with AI agents within the workflow builder. This includes defining guardrails, ensuring transparency about AI decision-making, providing users with appropriate levels of control, and designing mechanisms for evaluating the trust and quality of AI-generated outputs. Your work will directly contribute to Camunda's vision of delivering trusted AI agents for business-critical processes.
• • You will be expected to bring a strong systems-thinking approach to your work, considering how the workflow builder integrates with the broader Camunda platform and the end-to-end user journey. This includes understanding how workflows are deployed, monitored, and managed in production environments. Your designs should facilitate a smooth transition from creation to operation.
• • We are looking for a designer who takes high ownership and drives momentum. You should be comfortable taking initiative, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, and working in close partnership with Product Management and Engineering to bring your designs to life. Your ability to communicate your design rationale clearly and engage in candid discussions will be crucial for success.
• • A validation mindset is essential. You will be expected to employ customer and internal validation techniques to ensure your designs are effective and meet user needs. An outcome orientation will guide your efforts, ensuring that your work delivers tangible business value and improves user satisfaction.
• • This is a fully remote role, open to candidates within the UTC -5 to UTC +5:30 timezone range, allowing for collaboration across EMEA and US East Coast time zones.
