📋 Description

• Join ZOE, a pioneering health science company, and become a pivotal Senior React Native Engineer within our dynamic, distributed Engineering team. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our member experience by developing innovative features that empower individuals to understand and improve their health through diet and lifestyle.
• At ZOE, our Engineering team is the engine driving our mission forward, leveraging cutting-edge science and technology. We are a collaborative group of approximately 40 engineers across the UK and EU, united by a passion for tackling complex challenges and building impactful products. Our cross-functional nature allows us to seamlessly integrate front-end, back-end, mobile, machine learning, and data expertise, working hand-in-hand with Product, Design, and Science to create truly transformative member experiences.
• As a Senior React Native Engineer, you will be embedded in a cross-functional product engineering team. Your primary focus will be on building features that directly enhance our members' journey. This includes developing intuitive interfaces for snapping meal photos and logging dietary intake, integrating data from wearable devices to track sleep and exercise patterns, and creating compelling visualizations that help members understand the intricate relationship between their diet and their body's responses.
• You will play a key role in bringing our mobile app to life, contributing to features such as advanced barcode scanning and AI-powered photo logging of meals, seamless integration with popular wearables for comprehensive health data tracking, and the development of engaging data visualizations that make complex health information accessible and actionable.
• We also focus on making habit-building a delightful experience. You will contribute to the implementation of joyful animations, potentially using tools like Rive, to enhance user engagement and encourage consistent healthy behaviors.
• Beyond feature development, you will be an active and influential member of our Mobile Community of Practice. This community is dedicated to advancing our mobile platform, where you will collaborate with engineers across the company on critical initiatives such as React Native version upgrades, enhancing accessibility across our applications, and optimizing our automated deployment pipelines.
• Your expertise will be crucial in finding the optimal balance between rapid iteration and the delivery of a high-quality, delightful user experience. You'll help us maintain a scalable, robust, and maintainable mobile architecture while ensuring we can quickly respond to user feedback and market needs.
• You will be responsible for taking ownership of ambiguous technical challenges, dissecting them into manageable components, and driving them to successful completion. This involves not only writing clean, efficient code but also collaborating effectively with Product Managers, Designers, and Analysts to ensure that the solutions we build are not only technically sound but also deeply aligned with user needs and business objectives.
• We champion a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. As a senior member of the team, you will actively mentor and support your fellow engineers through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming sessions, and by sharing your expertise. Your contributions will be vital in shaping and elevating our world-class engineering culture.
• You will be empowered to ship features to production frequently, embracing an iterative development process. This allows us to gather real user data, learn from it, and continuously refine the member experience, ensuring that ZOE remains at the forefront of personalized health.
• Our technology stack is modern and robust, featuring React Native, Expo, and TypeScript on the frontend, complemented by tools like Rive, Reanimated, RTKQuery, Redux, Scandit, Maestro, Storybook, and Fastlane for mobile development. We leverage app tools such as Mixpanel, Kameeleon, AppsFlyer, Firebase, and RevenueCat for analytics and monetization, while our backend is built with Kotlin/Spring Boot and Python/FastAPI & Django. Our CI/CD is managed through GitHub Actions.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of hands-on frontend experience, with significant experience in React Native or React Web.
• Proven ability to adapt and drive progress in fast-paced, evolving environments.

• Pragmatic mindset, prioritizing elegant and maintainable code.
• Experience with mobile development tools and practices, including state management, API integration, and testing frameworks.
